I’ve been a sdr/bdr for over 2 years in B2B saas/cyber security sales with startups and 5 years of sales experience prior. I’m looking to make the leap to AE elsewhere. Is there anyone that could guide me on best practices for this job hunt or know of any roles needing an AE.

My company is hiring for AE’s fully remote. Let’s chat

Hey there, I’d be happy to chat. Would you mind shooting a dm over, I don’t have enough points earned to send a chat.

Can you share your experience doing that, am into sales engineering but trying to switch to IT, SaaS sales. Do I need to have full IT knowledge and how is the pay the stress like, flexibility of working

Yeah sure thing I’ll keep you posted. As far as the IT knowledge, from what I’ve seen it’s a bit less technical knowledge, with the trade off being more pricing and deal structuring knowledge needed (depends on your firm).

Following. I have 5 years of Cybersecurity sales experience (services/solutions- with both startups, global OEM, also fully remote) and I am looking to do the same. Looking forward to any feedback from the community.

I have heard people make a lot in cyber security sale. Then why do you wanna switch? Just curious 👀

Any advice for an experienced HR professional with SHRM-SCP? I was downsized from my last job as a VP of Admin wanted to go with Coordinator/Assistant structure. Been in HR for nearly 20 years with mostly generalist experience. Managed a function and/or people for most of that time. Senior level in my experience, but definitely not executive level. (Limited budgeting and PM experience.) Having a horrible time finding a new role! Getting a lot of interviews but no offers and getting discouraged.

What’s the best way to share unpleasant feedback? I’ve seen many people be direct and rude, sandwich negative feedback, and transparent but polite.

I’ve worked with managers who share negative feedback in a friendly, non-degrading way in the past, but lately, I see more blunt and harsh - is this an industry norm? Was I just lucky a few times?

Additional Posts in Tech Sales

I would like to make a change from a Big tech corporate to a smaller one and also in PRE IPO.
From Milan, Italy back to Dublin, Ireland

Currently base salary much lower than the market, growth opportunities never discussed after 1 year in current position.

The company is Fivetran what do you think?

Experience: 4th year in Big Tech Corporate
2 years in Demand Generation as BDR
2 years as Field Cloud Account Executive.

I am looking for greater impact and professional growth.

Is Account executive the goal once you become a BDR? What are the other paths that other people have taken?

Should I transition to a tech sales job? Thoughts on risk vs reward? I am 34 yo, married with a baby incoming. I work at Google Cloud in solutions engineering (I help develop quantitative business cases with sales teams for customers). My cash base + bonus is $220k (going to ignore equity). I have an MBA from the University of Chicago, not that it matters much in sales. I have always been in a consulting role but I think I can make more in sales. I have a competitive personality and I am bored.

For those working in sales with ARR, what is your commission structure/payout? I am an AE for a SaaS startup and my commission is 7%—- but it’s paid out quarterly as it accrues based on customer invoicing. I think you can do the math and understand why I ask.

What are some “typical” career paths for Account Executives other than working up towards the largest enterprise AE roles. After being in sales for 6 years, I’m relatively naive to any other than “leadership” and wonder what other options to consider are out there. I’d even be open so some not so typical ones that people have enjoyed/found success in. Thanks in advance!

Don’t assume that more likes and comments directly lead to sales. I’ve had posts with 20 likes that generated me more leads than a post with 100 likes.

Sales is a funny thing.

Big pipeline doesn’t mean more revenue.

Accurate pipeline does

Can anyone give any insight on what a strategy role is like. I’m currently in sales have been toying around with the idea of going into strategy because it seems a bit more interesting to me but what does a day to day actually look like for someone in strategy ?

Hi All! Would anyone be willing to give me a referral to an Account Executive role at MSFT, AMZN, or GOOGL. Currently Account Executive at Dell and foucused on Cloud services (yes we have cloud services at dell lol)?

Anyone work in IoT Sales Cisco? What is the comp like? Can’t find a definitive range online and wondering what avg base and performance looks like?!

What enterprise cloud salesperson makes more money in a year? A partner like Accenture or a direct seller at a company like Amazon or Microsoft? Does size of company matter? Are smaller partners making more?

MSFT or AWS? As Tech Pre Sales and why?

Interviewed for a company today. The remuneration package $120k-$180k/year [Base + % of Commission = OTE] (50/50 spilt).

They’re asking for an expected salary, if my expected salary is $100k/year, comes out to $8.3k/month.

Based on the $180k and paymix of 50/50, that means $90k is the base salary which is lower than my expected - is this correct? If so, what should I do?

I’m in Sales, but brand new to tech sales. I had a resume person help me - gorgeous cover letter too that showcases my skills.

I keep getting rejected for lack of SaaS experience. What can I say or do to get my foot in the door? I am confident that I can crush it but not even getting past the gatekeeper at this point. It’s a blanket “ we need someone with experience” and I’m trying to not get discouraged.

Hi all - I am a Sr. IT Internal Audit Consultant at a medium-size firm and I'm exploring Sales Engineer roles as a potential exit opportunity. I'm wondering if anyone else in this bowl has an IT Audit background and would be able to offer me advice on how to make the career switch.

Thanks for any advice/guidance you can provide!
