I'd move home especially with plans to stay abroad for a while. Move in with your parents in one go, rent out your place and that will give you flexibility for whenever you find the opportunity to go abroad, and you'll save money (and maybe make money depending on how much you can rent out for) in the meantime. I moved in with my parents in April and have been able to save a ton and invest, it's been great. I also have plans to buy, so it helps give me flexibility of not being tide to an apartment / lease if want to go somewhere else, buy my own place, whatever it may be.

^ I agree with as M1! I’m 25F if it helps add perspective. Also in Boston! It’s tough to find tenants these days though so I’d maybe ask a realtor what they think you’d rent at, to help inform your decision. You shouldn’t have to pay for broker fees unless it’s having a really hard time renting out (in which case you might cover it instead of the tenant).

I’m planning to visit my parents after 2 years. Last time I went home, it was with a fiancé - that fell apart during COVID. I feel like a failure going home and can’t believe this is causing me so much anxiety. I want to feel happy about meeting my parents and friends after so long but I’m so not in the zone to deal with comments and questions about him. Anyone dealt with this before? Any advice is appreciated!

Unprofessional post- I’m seeing my new coworkers in person for the first time this weekend because I was a remote hire. But I have gained so much weight since covid that I feel like people are going to be disappointed when they see me in person. Because my professional headshot is from 2 years ago and I don’t look like that anymore. What do I do? I really want to cancel.

I’ve been out of work for a significant amount of time due to Covid decimating my industry. Lots of interviews and a few final rounds. Today I finally got an offer. Pay is the best yet and team seems great. I just can’t help but feel a little disappointed bc it’s not the industry I was in/am passionate about/reason I went to law school. Is one bird in hand really better than two in the bush? Anyone have a similar situation? I’m worried about regret & giving up on my dreams.

I’m a tax senior 1 (will be a senior 2 in October) and just got an offer with a 26% raise at a large public company on their provision team. There’s also an aspect of FP&A and helping with transactions so not strictly tax. All seems super interesting and the team seems great. I really like my EY team and my counselor has talked to me about an early manager promo next year but have never intended to be a PA lifer. Any reason I shouldn’t take it?

I’m social media drained. I can’t keep up with all you 25 year olds who have $500k in savings, perfect bodies and skin, no student debt, manager-level jobs in tech and MBB, tons of friends and partners/spouses who love them. I’m out for a while ✌️

Are tucks MBB numbers really that good? I saw a student on Reddit say about 35 mbb internships were granted in their year out of about 150 applicants (70-90 interviews per firm). Not sure what to make of this. Additionally, is it true that the battle is to get interviews and once you get one, then it’s just a matter of you performing (I.e., you’re no longer competing against classmates)?

I’ve been totally buried in work for the last 2.5ish months and it’s taken a toll on me. I’m feeling very burned out, to the point where my productivity has tapered off over the past two weeks and I’m no longer able to bill the hours I want. I genuinely try, but at a certain point each day (usually around 6.5 hours) I just feel like I can’t do it anymore. My family is urging me to take PTO to recharge, but I’m too scared about losing more hours to actually do it. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm struggling to establish boundaries on my project. I get new work assigned at 6pm most days and I'm told they need done by the next day. I start at 7am everyday. Anyone have advice on what I can say to leadership? I seriously can't be working 7am to 11pm every day, my personal life/family is really taking a huge hit.
