Yes I took blood thinners once a night throughout. It was difficult in the beginning, but it became my nightly routine. As I began to get bigger I utilized my thighs to inject the blood thinners.
I’m 25 weeks and have been taking Lovenox since week 8 because I have a blood clotting disorder. I’ll be on the shots until a few weeks postpartum, and will temporarily switch to a twice daily heparin shot around baby’s due date
I’m hoping the outcome of all this is a healthy baby girl come July, but can tell you now that the daily shot gets a lot easier. I’m very squeamish and I don’t even think about it anymore! I definitely recommend rotating sides of stomach every day when you do the shot, and to expect a bit of bruising.
Good luck!

Thank you. I just started and am doing on thighs. They kind of sting and hurt. Got my BFP today at the doctors. Hope I get use to it. Is there anything where its better on stomach vs thigh or doesnt matter?
Congratulations on your BFP!!!! 🎊🎉🥳 I have found that the fattier the area of injection, the less painful the injection is. For example, I have more fatty tissue toward the middle of my stomach as compared to the sides (when I say sides, I mean the area we all endearingly refer to as “love handles”). When I inject more toward the middle of my stomach in the more fatty areas, I barely feel anything.
I’ve also found that injecting at an angle (~45 degrees) helps a lot - it’s what my doctor recommended when walking me through the shots. Full disclosure, I still occasionally mess up (not enough fat, not enough angle) and have about 30 seconds of stinging after the injection, but it goes away very quickly.
