Don’t be discouraged all it takes is 1 yes. For me
personally, it took me 2 years to land the role I have now and before this it took me a year. Just stay consistent!
This gives me hope. Thank you so much. Virtual 🤗
Definitely stay consistent in your search! What helped me was actually going to a career coach to determine what was happening. I went to a resume writing service years ago to have my resume rewritten, which helped a ton.
Another thing that helped me with my interview skills was going back to my university and taking part in mock interviews to see where I could improve.
I believe that you are getting close to your yes, just keep going for what you want! If you have a mentor or someone in your network that can talk you through some of this stuff, it’ll help. You’ve got this.
Thank you so much for your response. I’ve thought about reaching out to a career coach/resume writer, but I’ve seen a few (Tik Tok) who have misrepresented themselves and turned out to have no credibility.
I’m going to do a little more research to find someone who I feel is trustworthy. I’m also open to recs if you know of someone. Virtual 🤗
For me, I’m selective about my next opportunity. I’ve been actively job hunting while working for the past six years. I estimate I’ve taken somewhere around 40-50 intro/screening calls, initiated 12-15 interview processes, and received 3 offers.
My partner lost his job in 2019. According to the job opportunity tracker we created for him, he applied to 200 jobs over 22 months. He found an amazing fit last year that he wouldn’t have considered in 2019.
It takes time. It can get very frustrating and disappointing. Be sure you’re doing your homework, meaning get your resume reviewed (peers/mentors), practice your answers to traditional interview questions, develop smart questions you can ask in the interview, do due diligence on the companies/industries/spaces, do mock interviews (peers/mentors), clean up your LinkedIn, and add or refine relevant skills to give yourself a confidence boost.
This helps. Thanks a ton! Virtual 🤗
I’m going through the same thing right now, trying to make a career pivot and it’s rough ngl. I’ve filled out hundreds of applications and keep getting rejections. But at the same time, you’re up against hundreds of qualified applicants all competing for the same positions. But I know that it will take persistence to eventually get through! At this point, I’m just beyond grateful that I still have my current position/income while I’m looking elsewhere and I’m continuing to learn and grow my skills until I finally get an amazing offer!
This is very true. I work on a great team and have a great boss so I’m very thankful right now. At the same time I know this position (or company) is not for me because advancement or transferring has revealed to be hard to come by. Nonetheless, sooner or later we will be the next ones with the LinkedIn post prefacing “I’m happy to announce…” 😊
What job are you looking for and what do you currently do?
I'm also in healthcare, do you want to connect? let's chat :) I'll do what I can to help!
Every role has taken me like 2-3 months from interview to job offer. I never had luck with direct applications. Recruiters speed up the process immensely.
For both my current role and my new job it took around a month
Are you trying to get a job in the same field as you’re working now? A lot of the time I’ve seen that networking gets you in the door more easily. Professional meetups, reaching out on LinkedIn etc. Knowing someone in the company you’re applying to, and having them vouch for you through the interviews (if they have a say) and help you prepare for them and give you pointers on how to ace the interview. This worked for me, I was searching for about 4 months, and this worked for 2 other people who I helped bring on to the firm. When I wanted to pivot to a different industry, my mentor told me the easiest way to do this was work in a similar role and try move within the company, because it’s harder to get hired in a different field with zero experience. I ended up moving within the company and didn’t leave but I feel I have the right skill set now if I ever needed to. Also what others said, resume services may help so that your resume stands out and you get that call for the interview. And don’t give up, just keep pushing. It’s going to be so much better when you get your dream job after the struggle. If you need to move to a different role (and if it’s easier) do so that way you get different skills and a different experience
Thank you for this insight. This helps. 🤗
Honestly, we’re both in the same field revenue cycle/operations and our skills are transferable but I’m experiencing the same problem and I’m getting great feedback but they keep selecting another candidate or putting the position on hold.
Same here! I’m sure I’m over 200 applications and a good amount of interviews but not hundreds. We got this!
Over a year… But I’m really picky about the jobs I applied to. I’d suggest maybe just putting your energy into the jobs you really want. Job searching is a job in itself and extra draining! Remember the interview process is to make sure it’s a good fit for you as well. The right one will come along ❤️
It took me about a year 😩 was grueling but worth the effort to finally be in a better place
It is taking me forever this time and I feel the same way daily
