I am planning to do masters in cybersecurity . I migrated from India where I did my under grad. 35 M working as M at Big 4 with 12 YOE and making 170k. I feel doing a masters from US will add to my knowledge and some brand value to my education space in my resume . Any good school recommendations for online masters ? Was thinking between CMU , Berkeley , Georgie tech . Would prefer something that doesn’t need GMAT, less than 100k total tution and good brand name . Thank you. !!!
I got laid off and 3 weeks later a SC from HR sends me an email about an opening at the firm. Should I apply???
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
What are people hearing at the local levels for spending and tax policy changes due to covid related budget deficits?
I am so grateful to have a job right now but I am really struggling. I’ve been at D for a little under a year and have been really unhappy with my experience. In particular, my current project and my direct supervisor make me feel unbelievably incompetent and under appreciated. Given COVID, there is little flexibility to roll off. I’ve tried to stick it through but I’m at a breaking point. Any suggestions on how to make the best of it? Or next steps?
Ex-Consulant here that now works for a big name Real Estate Investment Trust. Saw on LinkedIn that EY has an America’s REIT Leader. Didn’t know that much attention was paid to the REIT space. Are there really consulting teams dedicated to the REIT space in the Big 4? Love working for a REIT and would love to jump back to consulting if there were teams dedicated to the industry.
It’s pretty wild how much Big 4 demonizes people who leave. Even worse if you’re looking to jump to a competitor. It’s never that serious
Do any real people actually want schools to reopen as it stands now? Im hearing so much about it but it feels like a weird disconnected political thing and not a live humans with kids thing. *Obv the goal is to get covid under control so kids can go back safely, this is assuming infection rates stay steady or continue to climb
Just got laid off today. Manager fought really hard for me, but senior threw me under the bus to my career advisor. Oh well on to the next challenge.
Anyone have experience with FDD at a B4 vs more of a specialized firm like A&M? I'd expect the latter to pay more, but curious if the deals worked on are actually different or there would be a diff vibe at an A&M tier. Trying to get out of audit, but not sure it's worth sticking in B4 since not feeling EY at the moment.
Partner poll - is COVID causing you to fundamentally rethink whether you want to stay in consulting? Cannot stop thinking about using this disruptive moment to hang my own shingle and do something completely different - buy/start a small business. 22 years in consulting. Partner 7 yrs. Young family.
Is the CVA or ABV valued by big 4 at all?

Do B4 have any short-term training/working programs that's easy to get in so i can join and gain experience to get a job at B4 later?
This article is a good read in terms of how to handle the COVID-19 crisis: https://blog.shrm.org/blog/promoting-workplace-mental-health-in-the-age-of-covid-19
Curious to know where folks are from and which state do you live in right now? (Ignore relocation because of Covid). I'll start, NJ > NJ
How is everyone with COVID-19 symptoms feeling today? I’m in week 3 and still fatigued and coughing, smell is back!
Im presenting two cases for an interview tomorrow and want to leave questions for the end to manage time. Will that be seen as rigid?
I’m at 760 nights & 9 years as platinum at Marriott…but I was at 750 nights & 9 years last year (pretty sure? Maybe going crazy). Do you have to hit 10 years as plat within a 10yr time span? Or 10 years as plat at any point in your life?
What is the best credit card to get as a new associate with no credit or past credit card?
Asking people who went from big 4 to mbb, is it much more “difficult”? If so? How much more?
What's a very memorable or engaging networking event you attended? What made it so great (could be something from pre covid times too or from the present new norm if virtual)!
Anyone here who made the exit from Big 4/MBB consulting to a VC? If so, I’d love to hear about how the experience is so far. (Not to mention the WLB and comp!) I’m considering a career change but have no one in my network I can go to for insights. Thx! 🙏🏾
What is working at Citadel like? Talking to a recruiter for an ops role, but she mentioned that the ex-MBB team works as hard as they did in consulting (if not harder). Also see online the Citadel is called “Chicago’s revolving door”? A bad exit for someone wanting a bit more sustainability?
Does Big4 hire ACCA individuals from international countries (they will not need visa sponsorship and would be legally authorized to work in USA).
What’s a typical salary for an acd in philly?
With the 2022 Robert Half salary guide recently getting released, do you feel it’s pretty accurate or not?
Has anyone pivoted from consulting to IB or vice versa? How quickly were you able to pick up the skills for the other role’s interview process / career?
Best ways to live and work (in consulting) internationally? Firm has a global deployment program but many just quit the US firm after applying / getting hired to another country's member firm.
Was a bitch? My coworker routinely asks me how I am doing, what I’m working on, if everything is ok, joking that I’m starting my week on Wednesday because I’ve been remote for two days, etc etc. I find it distracting and invasive so today I told them to please stop asking questions that put me on the spot. Was I a bitch?
Where do you live, what is your title, what is your salary? Include employer if you want. UX Designer, Toronto. $73k CAD
I know my boss is interviewing. And I'm not surprised that nobody will hire him. But, I sure wish someone would!
Per diem dinner allowance for Orlando at KPMG seems low at $33. That city has become much more expensive especially since it’s essentially a resort town. What do other firms allow?
Can staff or seniors refer interns in big 4, or are interns only really hired through campus recruiting?
Do you leave current position without being promoted to senior? Some opportunities come up but I am hesitating whether or not to wait until I got promoted.
