Hi ladies, looking for advice on pivoting my career. Currently primary engineer for a system that supports 25k users across 200+ offices. I'm bored with IT. I'm a Jill of many trades, networking, wireless, voice, etc. I'm currently working on learning various netops tools. I like figuring out how to put pieces together but it's not much of a challenge anymore. I'm working on putting together a 5 year plan to move to 100 percent remote because my husband wants to retire and move. Advice?

That could be interesting depending on the environment and audience. I will do some research

Have you considered product management? I pivoted from being an engineer to product management and marketing role a couple years ago which allows me to use technical knowledge as well as learn business skills.

In my role as the product line manager, I own taking a product from planning to launch. This means, working across engineering, architecture, management, customers etc to ensure the end product meets the market requirements. It is quite interesting to see how products sort of evolve from planning to what we deliver.

I’ve had issues since high school, but just formally got diagnosed with ADHD. I’ve always managed to get by okay at work (I’m no super star), but remote meetings have been really difficult for me and I now feel like I’m barely hanging on. Trying meds now, but no benefits yet. Pros and Cons of disclosing the diagnosis to my team, partner, or firm? I’m torn.

My husband and I (both 27) max out our Roth IRAs each year, have a complete emergency fund, and I’m able to start maxing my 401K this year (he contributes 10% to his 401K - it isn’t possible for him to max his based on his current pay). We contribute 18% extra towards principal on our mortgage each month. We now have about $20k of additional savings we want to figure out what to do with. What would you recommend to someone who is new to stocks/investments?

Why does everyone say PE is a “low risk” way to make a lot of money? Once you hit VP level, isn’t the majority of your compensation in carry, which doesn’t get paid out until 5-7 years AFTER it is earned (while in consulting, your bonus is paid out in the year it’s earned)? And if you look at the CALPERS database, don’t many funds of mega fund/UMM PE firms fail to exceed the hurdle rate? So even at established UMM/MF PE firms there’s a possibility you’ll get no carry?
