Hold your head up and hold your voice firm. The guy is over compensating for his deficiencies. Make yourself and the team look good - act a team player but make sure your voice is heard with client. If you have a good relationship with him, I would do 1:1 with them and share your frustration and solutions on how to improve the situation. Sometimes men truly are just clueless on how they make others feel.

It's like you know me lol. I'm in a very similar position. But I feel helpless as I am the only one female, and the most junior. I'm a tech consultant and very much focused in delivery and hate fluff. But all other people are management consultants, and can talk about God knows what forever. I'm having a hard time on focusing and trying to listen to them speaking. If I ask question, I'm getting the responses that discourage to ask anything ever really. But I've given up. I guess I'll live forever unnoticed doing shit load of work while others will bullshit and get all the attention.

Drive things yourself. No rule says the others have to. Do you have the skills and are you ready to drive them? You are probably more than capable of doing the leading. Don't sell yourself short. But if you feel you aren't, work towards driving convos as a goal. Better yet, work together with your female colleague and you both build your skills. Then you both can drive things together, and the guys will be left in the dust, wondering what happened. Don't ask, just do.

Also sounds like you know as much about if not more than the leads, so own that. Come to the table with your perspective already in hand and a few next steps or a action items. Always have a perspective/point of view, backup research and next steps, in every situation you can. On the long-windedness, you can try to interrupt and change the trajectory of the convo so you own it (it's a difficult art to learn and master), or as you master that, you can wait to the end and say "That's helpful... Here's what we should do... Here's what I heard on the call... Here's next steps... Here's what the research says..." Share that perspective I'm talking about and drive the follow up meetings too.

A1: Sorry to hear you’re going through the same thing, especially on your own! I really hope someone recognizes your efforts. DM me if you need someone to talk to

A1: Don't give up. Unfortunately it takes us much more work, time, effort to work through things like this. It definitely isn't fair. Keep it, lean on colleagues for support, and you'll get there.

The two leads drive the conversations in client calls then ask us for thoughts and opinions in follow up meetings or emails. However, they’ve made it clear they don’t listen to our responses, whether it was said in a meeting, clearly outlined in an email, or both. I know we may not have the years of experience that they have, but the other analyst and I do have more of a technical background than they do (it’s a technical project). They’ll try to explain something to us with inaccurate explanations, then act like we‘re dumb by always asking, “Does that make sense?” or “Do you even know what x is?” They also talk so much even in our follow up internal team meetings (ones where they specifically asked for our feedback) that the other girl and I will have to interject and direct questions to each other just to get them to stop talking. For context, we aren’t new joiners. We’ve worked with one of these guys before, so he knows we know what we’re doing. He also didn’t act this way before, but he also had less of a leadership position. Has anyone experienced this? And if so, how can we make sure our opinions are at least valued and heard?

WM1: Thanks for the advice! I’ll speak up more confidently and have a 1:1 with him soon, which will hopefully help more than hurt the situation.

SC1: Thanks for your advice as well. The other analyst and I have been collaborating on almost everything since it’s a new project and want to make sure we’re not presenting incorrect info. They let us drive a client call today, but in the internal team meeting afterwards, questioned a lot of things we said despite the client confirming we were correct... When I countered and presented my feedback, they actually told me to stop talking and just email them after. Sooo I think if it’s not resolved through a 1:1, this team dynamic will be pretty rough moving forward.

OP: You're doing the right things. Keep going. Next internal meeting, speak up again. You get shushed in the meeting, send your notes after and ensure you claim them as your own (assuming that's true). Document things so you've got a paper trail that shows your manager how amazing you're doing on this gig. The proof of your accomplishments is to be written and shared by you. Keep up the momentum.

Hello 🐠, I have been on a project that I do not like, has absolutely obliterated my work life balance, and put me under a lot of stress. Not to say this doesn’t happen a lot in our job, but I have an opportunity to go back to an old client that I loved. My current project leadership knows the date I’m set to roll off, but have been hinting they won’t let me leave because I’m good at my job. I am so desperate to leave and have been advised by multiple colleagues to do so. What do I do??
