Ooooooooh this would make me livid. Can you call again and ask to speak to a supervisor? Can you show up with a box of masks (just to spite them) and say “here’s some masks, please fix my air conditioner now"

In your situation I would have given the person a mask. Order a new set if you don’t have spares to avoid the politics and get the outcome you need asap.

This means they won’t be fixing my air anytime soon. I called the leasing office to ask them why this is the case considering they sent out an email detailing their updated mask guidelines. The email explicitly stated that “Employees will be returning wearing a mask while in public indoor spaces (such as the leasing office or community amenities).” and that “When placing a service request with our team, please indicate if you have any preferences regarding PPE (such as gloves or booties) when we are entering your home.” The leasing rep was extremely rude and dismissive and stated that they weren’t required to wear masks at all when the email said the opposite. My initial request did not have a preference, but I told her I would update the maintenance request to reflect my preference for a mask, and she hung up. I’m not sure how to address this.

It is hot. Give him a mask. Disinfect after he leaves. Call the property management company. Write a letter to the corporate office of your complex

Just give a spare mask and be done with it.

Can you just provide him with a mask? We have extra single use masks at the door for unexpected visitors.

Thanks everyone for your input so far! I appreciate it a lot. Few things: It was in the moment, and I didn’t think quickly enough to offer a mask. It could also be my ignorance, but I assumed most of the staff would have a mask on hand, considering the recent email they sent out. I have a spare N95 mask and will take it to the leasing office to give to the guy.

You’re right. He didn’t magically appear at your door without first traversing public areas of your building. If he didn’t have a mask with him, how was he following policy?

Additional update: I stopped by the leasing office to give them the mask, which confused the person there. They tried to cover up by saying they were low on disposable masks. I didn’t press it cause I didn’t want to be the angry black girl. I just said thanks and left. The same guy shows up at my door with a completely different mask than the one I left at the leasing office. I literally laughed out loud cause I didn’t know how to react. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Anyway, thanks again for all your advice. I found them very helpful.

I’m ok with the base but equity seems low. Thoughts?
