Hi mommas. Slowly weaning 4 month old from breast milk and wanting to move to only formula by 5 months. I know lots of people get formula shipped from Europe but that seems too much of a hassle. What US formula are you using? We’ve tried happy baby organics and Bobbie and I’m not sure which one is better (debating if having probiotic is a plus or no). Any thoughts welcome!

Costco makes great formula. Baby formula is heavily regulated and it’s really not necessary to go organic or non-dairy unless your baby has a serious digestive issue and your pediatrician recommends it. “Organic” as a term has become really soft and meaningless in a lot of ways - just a marketing term. So FWIW, we did Costco formula and my son thrived. It was no stress, affordable, and I never had to worry about shortages or where to buy it.

like

I second Costco! My LO is 2 months, bern using formula and BM since she was born due to low supply. I feel like she has had less issues with gas than when we were using Enfamil.

We tried a few and looked at lots of ingredients and chose Similac Advanced Pro for both babies (also started all formula at 5 months for both kids)

like

Same

Aldi has good formula and more of a euro approach.

like

We used the same 2 formulas as you, currently using Bobbie. Also really liked Similac Pure Bliss (their version of Euro-style formula) but it’s sold out everywhere due to supply chain issues. We switched from Happy Baby bc/ the palm oil was making my baby constipated.

like

I use earths best but I have hear that bobbie is the “holle” equivalent in the US

Your pediatrician probably told you breast milk is best, but you do you! With my first I had low supply so needed to supplement and son did well with the "gentle" type formulas. We did this until he was 1 and then switched to only formula plus lactose free milk.

The first sentence is unnecessary. We all know it’s best but it comes off like you’re shaming her 😬

like

Didn't mean to offend. In fact I have many friends who refused to even try BF. Their kids are fine.

It’s just that in your case of low supply, it doesn’t matter that breast is “best” because it wasn’t enough. No need to project that on someone else.

like

We supplement with formula and use Enfamil Enspire.

Both my kids were on Baby's Only (a Nature's Best brand). I couldn't breastfeed though I tried for a long time with both. I've gotten counsel from 3 pediatricians and also did a lot of research and this brand is great - but more importantly, pretty much whatever you decide is great because of the advances in formula now!!

Earth’s Best. I liked that there was no corn syrup.

Same for similac idk why that’s in so many…. Seems crazy

I’m a health nut and after extended research I decided on Bobbie. We switched around 5 months too and had no issue

Does anyone know if insurers outside health insurance cover/reimburse travel vaccine costs as part of named benefits coverage by employers?

Like of you have a lot of international / extended business travel and need travel vaccines would Lloyd's cover the cost?

I just logged in for open enrollment and see that my benefit costs are increasing quite a bit. Family of 4 - medical/dental/vision will be about $345/pay period plus whatever I contribute to my HSA. Is this the norm now or is this way too much? We are also on an income based rate plan and I recently crossed into the bottom of the most expensive tier so it’s an even bigger hit over the normal YoY increase.

Is anyone on a low dose of Adderall or a similar stimulant, and do you find it helpful/effective?

When I was diagnosed (at 20 yo) I started on Adderall XR and my psychiatrist essentially took a “keep upping the dose until you feel side effects” approach, even though I still saw some benefits at a lower dose. I’m currently unmedicated and am somewhat hesitant to restart, but feel I could see some benefit and better stability with the help of medication.

I’m a dental assistant with 12 years experience. I have been staying home with my kids for the last 10 years but recently went back to temping. I would love to find something that was work from home instead. I have a passion for dentistry and the gut/oral health connection. Im also getting my Holistic Gut Practitioner certification. Anyone know of anything that’s work from home?

I’ve got a really good job. Wasn’t looking to move but a big 4 consulting firm reached out. I received a very generous/life changing offer. I’m so worried about work/life balance if I take this offer. Also worried about layoffs in a year or two when the market gets back to normal. I’ve got an infant and a 5 year old. I know that I can manage my current workload. I don’t want to pass up a great opportunity but I’ve got to be available for my family too!
