hi moms, my husband is turning 40 which is a pretty big milestone and I am running out of ideas on the special gifts given recent baby and work...I am not good at party planning but wanted to make his

Instead of a gift, I arranged a very nice dinner out with our two closest couple friends. The six of us had a great time

In addition to a getaway it could be nice to do something sentimental. I did one of those 40 things I love about you posters and had the kids tell me a bunch and I filled in the rest. He loved it and hung it in his closet to look at every morning. Sentimental goes a long way especially when you’re stressed with young kids!

Some other ideas if you want to be able to physically give him something - a watch, wallet, camera or art could be good too!

Oh one more! Hire a private chef and have a fancy meal cooked for you at home to enjoy after kiddos go to bed. Super fun and romantic.

Love it!

My husband just turned 40, too! He’s kind of an introvert and I knew he’d hate a surprise party or anything like that... I got him a driving experience at a local place that let him drive 4 different European sports cars, and he loved it. Only problem is now he wants to buy a sports car.

Yes!

Do you think he would prefer a gathering of friends and family or something more intimate / low-key with just you and the kids?

like

We did an overnight to a place we love with some friends. He got up earl with some of our group and did a hike that has been on his bucket list and the rest of us hung out at the pool with the kids. It was low key but really fun

like

Yeah I am thinking about low key with kids ...so need to find a place that is young toddler friendly...

Get a sitter and spend the evening talking about how much you love your kid? (Sarcasm is for myself... my hubby and I end up talking about our kids all the time during date night 🤦‍♀️)

funny

Birthday memorable. Any suggestions? Any idea would be great.

Ladies, so I’ve been staying at my boyfriends parents house during the entire pandemic, since January actually. His parents are at the beach house but they drop in here at least once a month for “errands.” I’ve been really pushing for us to move and get our own space, for piece of mind. My concern is that I might be rushing into a smaller space in the middle of a pandemic with no clear end in sight. Would love to know others opinions on what to do. Hi all! I was asked coordinate a local happy hour for my team. The issue I’m having is that I’m currently pregnant and am not sure if I’m comfortable to hang out with strangers. What’s the most professional way to say no without hurting feelings / burning bridges? Or should I suck it up and go?

Do we care anymore if our companies speak out against anti-gay/trans legislation? I’m only seeing a few companies release statements and most seem performative at best. If I was trans or had a trans child, I’d feel like most companies are ignoring the issues. For context, when answering where do you live and are you trans or close with any trans people.

We feel this might not be enough from the post we see. Should we make the move? Though please

Hi girls,

I joined the current company when I was about 2 months pregnant and they were extremely welcoming.. My baby is now 2+ years and we are planning to have another baby soon. What are your views on opting for the maternity leaves 2nd time within 3.5 years of joining the company? Would it reflect badly on me? Btw, I'm a high perfomer at my company and have also had a promotion recently. I am feeling too guilty but baby no.2 is also a priority given the age factor and the fertility concerns

I am the world's worst flier. I hate flying so much and usually sit and cry the entire flight from fear and anxiety. Ever since I had my kid, who is now a teenager, it's gotten even worse. I am so afraid something will happen to me that will leave him without a mother. Yes, I know the statistics on crashes. It's not just that. It's the fact that I've had two superficial blood clots in my legs in the past (not DVT), had covid last year and really don't want to get it again (more in comments)

Hello all, I'm doing IVF shortly (retrieval in May, and transfer in July). Fingers crossed I do get pregnant. BUT I MIGHT be up for Senior Manager at Accenture this year as well. My husband's pushing me to keep gunning for it and make it happen. I'm REALLY worried about the increased expectations/responsibilities if and when I get the promotion, not to mention the extra effort it takes leading up to it to keep proving yourself. Shouldn't I be turning it DOWN a notch instead of UP?? Thoughts?

Can someone help me understand how backdoor Roth works in my situation?

I contribute the $19.5K max to a 401K each year. Would backdoor Roth be (A) the ability to roll $6K of that $19.5K into a Roth? or (B) an incremental $6K that I could contribute to a separate IRA then backdoor into a Roth?

Asked another way, does backdoor Roth allow me to actually contribute $25.5K each year, or does it just allow $6K of my $19.5K contribution to build in a Roth?

Thanks!

How does a sole engineer at a company go about getting management to actually care how production machines run?
