We interviewed a great candidate, extended a verbal offer and she accepted. We sent the written offer a few days ago but she hasn’t opened it or accepted (it’s expiring tomorrow). Have you ever had to follow up? How did you handle it? My company is small with no HR, so I have to handle the hiring myself.

I referred someone for a role at my previous company. I left about one month after that person started and had made sure to check with HR I’d still be eligible for the referral fee before I left. 2 months later, still no referral fee, so emailed them and they’re now saying “oops our bad but you’ve left the company so you’re not eligible” even though I have written confirmation of them saying “leaving the company won’t affect you receiving the referral fee”. Why is it so hard to get an interview as a software engineer?
