Hi- recent grad here working in house who wants to transition to an agency (either Account Executive or AAE since I don’t have agency experience) and would appreciate some pointers. What should I be looking for or what can I focus on in my current role (i.e. transferable skills)?

Yay! Agencies are so fun. If you’re in a big ad market, I would definitely start with AAE because agency experience is pretty important to most hiring managers. You might be able to get AE at smaller shops in smaller markets, especially if your current industry is relevant to the kinds of clients you’d be working on at the agency. If you’ve done anything like this, play that up on your resume: writing briefs, working with creative teams, digital or video production, making timelines, monitoring competitive, working with partner agencies or media vendors, etc!

Thanks for the advice!! I work at at smaller company but I do work with vendors and write briefs/plans so I’ll work that in.

Secured 750 (Q:49, V:42) in GMAT. Targeting to apply for EMBA in 1-2 years. 9 YOE. Current role: Senior Manager. Target universities: M7, INSEAD and LBS. Question is, for GMAT exam I just focused on Q & V part, and skipped IR & AWA part (IR: 1 & AWA: 3). Now does it make sense to reattempt with a focus on other parts and risk 750 scores, or you think it’s not needed, as for EMBA’s GMAT score is not the only deciding factor and 750 score is enough for most universities irrespective of IR & AWA.

Considering an expert role in healthcare in mid Atlantic region at McKinsey. Any thoughts about culture, wlb, tc, etc? Have read through a bunch of older threads. Opinion seems mixed. Negatives mentioned include more intense work hours than integrative track, second class citizen, slower career progression, lower pay than integrative, harder to get staffed on engagements, poor integration into teams, and subpar exit opportunities. Also read this is changing. Would appreciate recent thoughts. 🙏

Salary research: Hey fellow designers, I recently saw a tweet that the new hourly rate for designers in US is $200-250hr(screenshot). And more people seem to confirm that: https://twitter.com/francois_bach/status/1399063307936354309?s=21 I think the lack of awareness of how much our peer designers make causes huge gap differences in what we’re paid. I work full time for a sorta established tech startup in NYC with 100+ employees. As a sr product designer I made $85k/year (no other monetary bonus) In my new role I make $127k/year (about $67/hr). Hbu?

How do I get in contact with a headhunter? Or at least get on their radar. I’m at a boutique firm in Upstate New York with 2.5 years experience including litigation, medical depositions, appellate briefs and a pending brief before the Court of Appeals. I would prefer to move laterally into either a legal research position or litigation associate role in the NYC area. Appreciate any insight or feedback.

Any Accenture Interactive account folks on what makes a successful Account Lead at AI. I crashed and burned pretty hard at Publicis Sapient (now back industry-side) and am wary of going back into the digital transformation space. However, the AI folks insist my general business background, MBA and brand strategy experience will translate to success.
