Hey everyone! Today I got laid off from my job - my entire IA department did. In total I think the company laid off about 8-10% of the workforce. Positives are that we’re getting a decent severance package but I’m beyond upset because I left consulting as a manager (very unhappy) and found this company and LOVED it for its mission and my position. Any advice on how I address being laid off in my future interviews? I’ve never been in this position before. Currently just feeling sad💔

My husband isn’t a great parent and he have a toddler. He means well but doesn’t know how to handle children . We have been thinking about a second child. Although I would love two children, I am not sure if I would be making a mistake since one child was certainly a lot to handle for us. I also don’t want to have my child miss out on having a sibling either.

Hi everyone. I’ve been interviewing with major tech companies like HubSpot, Shopify, and Smartsheet. I’m applying for jobs as an assoc. project/program manager or marketing PM. Me: 2 yoe as an official marketing PM in tech (5+ overall PM). I get to the 2nd stage of interview then get rejected. Reason: mving fwd w/ candidates w/ stronger experience. I’m feeling defeated. I have been applying to analyst roles for various companies and requesting to connect with recruiters from the companies on LinkedIn. I send a connection message introducing myself and telling them what role I applied for in their company. So far I haven’t any responses (even if they accept the connection request and I message them again afterwards). Should I be trying a different approach?

2nd stage of our interview process is a technical challenge and a conceptual discussion (system design)

Do any of you have experience with structuring a technical challenge to where it's the same for each candidate? I've had it happen where our devs asked questions to each candidate based on their lived experience vs. a standard set of questions that revolve around what needs to be performed in a dev role.

For referrals. Does it matter:

The seniority of the person referring? (IE: Is it better to get referred from a manager than an associate?)

The tenure of the person referring? (IE: is it better to get a referral from someone who has been there six years instead of six months?)

The position of the person referring my? (IE: if I applied for an analyst job with the marketing department, does it mean more if I get a referral from somebody in that department vs say a software engineer?)

Hi y’all! Hope this is the right bowl to post this question and get advice. I am dealing with an employer that preaches our values. The owner states that the values are important to her etc yet my manager violates these values and is involved in unethical behavior frequently. Example 1: My manager has told specialists (resourcers) that she will pay them under the table in order for her (manager) to get full credit vs splitfor the placement and therefore (barely) hit her target for the quarter.
