Hi there! I’m a salesperson and I am looking to transition into MARCOM. I was wondering if anyone had some advice they’d like to share about how they successfully transitioned into this field. I know there’s a limited amount of characters to start a discussion, so I’d be happy to provide more details if necessary!

I think the first thing to figure out is how your current role informs the MARCOM role you're thinking about and write your resume accordingly. I think pivots are possible, but it takes a LOT of time and applying

I appreciate that! I’ve been chugging away at a lot of applications. I feel like a lot of times, I’m qualified for the role and know that I’d be able to succeed, but my experience doesn’t quite tick off all the boxes in the listing. If someone would be willing to take a chance on me, I’d be able to show what I’m capable of! But I’m not quite sure how to convey that in a resume

I would look into marketing roles that are geared towards producing sales enablement materials - collateral, decks, etc. that help sales folk talk to their clients and position services.

If you’re in retail, definitely try looking into doing a CE! When I was at Apple, I did one and got to meet so many people on different teams from internal marketing to marcom to product.

Fingers crossed I’ll have good news soon!

This job market is insane right now.

Now, with all of these layoffs... employers have the upper hand, and it's super competitive to land the job.
