You have quite a unique set of skills and your work looks fun. You could afford to be a bit more relaxed about the way you present your work. When I read statements like “I make fans” and “Greatest hits,” I sense insecurity. Maybe it’s just me. But if you look at the books of the most awarded people in the industry, they are all rather simple. Love the trolley guy.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check it out. This is excellent feedback, and makes so much sense.

The animation in the beginning is fun, but I’m not sure it’s needed. I’d rather type in your url and see the work first.

Also not a big fan of displaying work in carousels but that’s just a personal opinion.

^ Agree with AD1. Ditch the carousel, it’s dated and makes for an unpleasant mobile experience. Love it otherwise!

I had a hard time tracking what was what. I saw the work. But I had no idea what I was looking at.

So I agree with most the other people here. It’s a nice design over all, but really complicated for a portfolio site. It’s also not the most mobile friendly. Try just landing on a page of your work. Then divide the work by campaign, or client. Give your work the attention it deserves.

Personally, I prefer organizing by campaign. It makes the work seem bigger and more substantial, even if it wasn’t.

Also, I like the Mircosoft rip video. But I wouldn’t start with it. It still has a lot of watermarks in it.

UX feedback here! The home page (at least for mobile— haven’t loaded desktop) should have some action or purpose as soon as I hit the page. A button leading to work, or better yet just listing the work immediately! I didn’t get “I make fans” with an old lady picture cut off— looked cool, but your site should immediately let me know what you do/ your reason for being. The floaty contact thing on the home page wasn’t helpful since I wouldn’t contact anyone without seeing their work. Site hierarchy wise, I’d put your about page after your work. Anyone going to your portfolio site is there for your work, so definitely prioritize it! As for the work page, agree with everyone’s carousel comments— ditch them. I know you’re using comps to show the writing in context, but you can’t actually read any of it on mobile. Consider writing it out on the page (plus it’s necessary for screen readers). Finally, I’d organize your writing into different groups based on type of writing if you have the range there. Hope this helps!

No problem!! I just saw one more thing! Your work background has headphones and made me think you were a music producer or something haha— consider a plain background or something that helps tip off what you do! Needs some text to say you’re a copywriter so we know what we’re supposed to focus on. Good luck!

Mobile experience alone made me immediately leave your site

funny

🙌🙌 thank you!

I looked through and i agree with all this feedback...mobile experience, carousels, organizing by campaign. I’ll also say I was confused by the landing page, I thought “I make fans” was a campaign I could click on vs. an intro/header. Great experience though, and seconded the “most awarded books are really simple” thought!
