Thoughts on transitioning from life sciences consulting to IB/PE/VC with/without MBA?

Limited at my current firm due not having CPA. I want to take a few months off to take the exams and then re-enter the market seeking a manager role ( 6 years experience) at a mid to larger size firm. Does this sound like a good idea or should I find a manager role at a smaller firm that doesn't require CPA? Any other options I should be considering?

I applied to a job at KPMG and did the first two rounds of interviews, general interview, then case study and competency. Never before have I had such a positive feedback at the end of an interview of the 2nd, both said really like me, I did well etc.

I’m very frustrated because I’ve been interviewing with companies for 6-8 months to only be rejected at the final round consistently.

I have lots of relevant experience and I articulate it well but they don’t think it’s a “fit” for them. Finance firms are the only ones that interview me, can’t break into other industries. I feel trapped in my current role and everything is taking a huge toll on my mental health.
