I’m interviewing for an in-house PR role (mostly content/media relations) at a digital company. I’ve had 3 interviews so far and completed one extensive writing assessment (800-word article). I’m pretty sure I have the job, and had a great interview with VP of Corp. Comms. today. She mentioned she had no hesitations about my qualifications. But the HR mgr said they now want me to do a 2nd assessment “just to dot their i’s” and they want a 750-word release by Monday. Is this normal?

What are the most fulfilling and challenging things about a career in communications?

Feel like I was lied to when interviewing at my current agency. I was very honest how important work life balance is to me due to health issues. I’m only two months in & working 55-60 hours a week, having to sign it at 10pm for reports. Every account seems to be like this. How much of a red flag is it if I already start looking for new jobs? I really wanted to make it work, but so can’t do this. I’m in Pharma PR, fwiw.

Due to inflation at its highest rate since 1982, I feel that I am not being paid enough. I can’t afford things on a day to day basis and I think I can make the same amount of money in gig jobs for cash downtown. During the Trump administration I was doing just fine financially - now it costs me so much just to get to work. Is it appropriate to have an inflation conversation with my bosses or should I just pick up shifts as a bartender at night - I need to make about 600 more a month to make it.
