Most of our MBA hires are from Ivey, rotman, or top American schools
Same
Queenās, Rotman, Ivey, Schulich - in no particular order. Ivey has a case study approach. Queenās has a small class size and focuses a lot on team work. Rotman is out of Toronto and is good for networking. Schulich has some folks that do international programs in China, India or Middle East. Most of the Partners in Consulting are from these 4 schools and make sure to hire the best talent.
Pro
Agree with BA1 for MBA recruiting. Queens does well at the undergrad level but their MBA doesnāt seem to be equally well regarded for some reason.
Ivey and Rotman
Or skip MBA- do some data / tech courses instead and get hired into tech consulting in a hot area like cloud / data strat. Then have company sponsor a part time MBA afterwards
Will test this with him. His work is already covering partial tuition. What you are suggesting may lengthen the process but significant upside with practically no out of pocket.
Rotman grad here. MBBs do hire from us and Ivey and offer matching salaries. However buyer beware that itās often slim pickings. Very often MBB have only 6-8 offers a year for the entire class at rotman and thatās inevitably split between 4-6 people (same people having more than one MBB offer). Leads to a lot of heartbreak if expectations arenāt set correctly. Schools and consulting clubs at rotman donāt do a very good job of being realistic because itās obviously not very good for marketing, so basically out of a cohort of 300 if 120 are into consulting, 80 of them think that they have a first round with MBB potential. Which is simply not true.
Big 4 is a little bit healthier. They end up picking maybe 15-20 of us during on campus or even as part of just in time hiring close to graduation time. Deloitte does very well with us, followed by KP, then EY.
S& in the last 3 years has taken like 6 people maybe while Accenture and ATK do about 2-3 a year.
At Ivey they didnāt explain it either. And now that Iām on the other side I canāt believe how much people just simply donāt look at employee #s. Iām still in awe of the size of Deloitte. My practice is larger than most consulting firms lol.
Rotman, Ivey, Schulich, Queens - only schools worth attending.
Rotman grad at McK here. VP1 is spot on
