Why not move home for a bit to be with family and then move back out to the city?
I just went through a breakup and ended up moving home to be with my family - waiting to sign a lease to see what’s happening with Delta and give myself time to figure out what I want to do.
Storage is cheaper than rent!
Chief
i would take the support system of parents and not worry about the dating scene so soon after ending a long term relationship. if you decide youre ready to be on your own again, you can move out after a month or two. i wouldnt rush into a new lease/commitment over the safety net of parents
I moved into my parents house a couple months ago due to a similar situation, and while it’s annoying it’s REALLY nice to save money. Now will be able to buy a condo rather than rent!
Take your parents up on their offer!
Take up your parents offer. I went through a nasty divorce a few years ago and was so grateful to have my parents around to get me through that difficult time. Don’t rush into dating again - take some time to heal yourself !! Once you have processed through your current situation and feel you are mentally ready - move out / date again.
OP I am going through the exact same thing right now. Still haven’t completely decided what I am going to do, but I am so thankful my parents offered and am leaning towards that just so I don’t have to rush into something. What city are you in?
I’m in NYC and sorry to hear about your breakup too but feel free to message me if you want to commiserate.
We decided to see a couples therapist to maturely figure out what to do with our current apt and all the things we bought together and talked with my parents about living at home for 3 months to test it out and take some time to heal before having to find a new apt. I was really surprised by all the move home responses here and appreciate the advice!
Stay with your parents for a few months and then sign a lease in an off season when the rent will be cheaper.
