Hey fishes, I’m 21M here. Class of 2020, 3.2 GPA from a top 20 target school for undergrad. I am 8 months into my first consulting job. What is the timeline for someone like myself? I managed to get some 2020 GMAT prep books but apart from that, I’m not really sure what the direction is. Do I just prep, practice, and take the test? I would like to apply for schools by 2024-2025. Thanks!
Any good books/learning materials on how consulting/non-product firms acquire other firms? Struggling to find relevant info. “Talent-based acquisitions” seem to be all about hr/recruiting. What are alternative keywords I should use?

Hiya! I was wondering if anyone here has any good recommendations in terms of books or learning material that I can pick up to learn about sales and marketing relevant to the consulting industry?
You mentioned ATK being a leader in Ops Consulting. What books / white papers / magazines can one read to build such competency (for a newcomer) or to refresh one's know how (a vet in the space)? Tks!
Good consulting books? Not talking case prep but a fun read about the industry and what it takes to succeed, etc. Thank you!

Posting here bc this bowl skews toward consultants. I'm considering a strategy consulting-like role. I have assumptions, but want to validate realities. Any tips on books, blogs, podcasts etc?
3 weeks ago I applied to a CM role with KPMG and last Thursday I received an email to fill out the KPMG Online Employment Application as I move forward to the interviewing process and contact my recruiter with any questions. However, no recruiters have reached out to me yet. What should I do? (I applied on my own and am not in the referral program. Also this was my first time receiving an email like this even though I had applied a couple times before)

I'm new at consulting and think/worry about work literally almost 24/7. I always feel like I should be doing more and worry about shit client or manager might throw at us. Any tips for staying sane?
Any insights on google’s business process re-engineering vs program manager role in finance? Which has better career opps, interesting work and pay?
Consultant vs specialist track - I’m considering jumping to the specialist track since I enjoy the technical work much more. However, it seems like it’s perceived as a step back. But what are the tangible differences? Lower pay and benefits? I’ve asked my cc but she doesn’t seem to have much to offer. Also, is the culture different? ….I really dislike working with hyper competitive people, most in consulting are great to work with, but there seems to be a solid 30% that are bad humans
Talent Acquisition teams: Are you all swamped and behind in your ATS processing right now? Asking as several colleagues and friends are actively submitting REFERRED applications for well-matched roles--but not hearing anything from HR. Is the need for talent real or is it overblown in the media? Or are a lot of TA people simply drowning at work or out on vacation right now? Tx for sharing if you are able! I'd like to give people some hope!
Converted my summer at a low/mid BB in the ECM team, however now been offered an analyst role at a MM PE firm (~$1bn AUM). Although my team at the BB is far from prestigious I’m just looking to hear some other opinions before I accept the PE offer, one thing catching me off guard is that most of the IP come from non-MBB consulting backgrounds so I’m wondering if this is really a good exit. I’d be taking about a 10% pay cut compared to IB but progression to roles with carry is open.
I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!
When your boss gives you 48 hours (clock hours not billable hours) to produce a viable objection to a MTD/compel arbitration in a complex commercial lit case, which is not my practice area, what kind of result is he expecting? From scratch, no template.
How do salary increases work at Big 4 if you come in an experienced hire? For example if I switch firms as an SA at 130k salary, what can I expect as an increase the next year since I’m not on the normal comp structure?

My H-1B visa transfer to D got an RFE. How long does it usually take for the BAL team at D to respond? I know the timeline can vary based on the complexity of the RFE but just wanted to understand a general timeline. Did anyone else get an RFE when they moved to D? What happened in your case? Did it finally get approved or was it rejected? Deloitte
