Senior manager vs director salary at doordash?
My company has unlimited pto, and they are pretty chill. All they care is you get your work done. I have the option of remote but a good portion requires a closed door because it's company IP or sensitive customer information and I simply cannot break my family from walking in on me, even after 2 years of wfh covid. Fortunately I'm 20 minutes from the office with flex schedule. Salary is considerably better than my last employer.
Agree, just because “unlimited pto” is a scam
Friend of mine has unlimited PTO. He says the company does this so they don't have to cash out PTO when people leave.
I think it depends on the company. I know research shows that those with unlimited PTO actually end up taking less time off, but where I work (with unlimited PTO) it is highly highly encouraged to always take PTO when needed/wanted. It is constantly talked about in 1:1’s as well as team meetings where they tell us to even just take a random day off for fun. It’s super nice not having to worry about if I’ve accrued enough PTO to be able to take a trip with my family! In 2021 I’ve taken 4 weeks off (total) already and have at least another week’s worth of PTO planned before the year ends
This sounds similar to my company. But we're fully remote with unlimited PTO and pretty generous salaries. It all worked out, in my opinion. I'll be taking 5 weeks of PTO this year, and I regularly travel and work from a family member's or friend's house.
Agreed. I think about this a lot. My salary is Mid but I am 100% remote, have an awesome manager, super flexible PTO. A little more money just can’t beat it.
THIS 🙌🏽
There are other factors like coordination with your team so unlimited pto is not that simple and some researches have proven that people are more prone to not use or feel guilty to take pto when it’s unlimited.
Yup, will take 100% remote over a higher salary anytime (relatively speaking)
I don’t have experience with unlimited PTO but have heard from coworkers with family that do and it’s usually a scam. “Unlimited but if you take more than 3 weeks you get fired”
I'm at a place with truly unlimited PTO, and i would ask that question if interviewing with a place that claims that. I would ask them to define what that means and have it in writing. Most people here take 5-6 weeks and no one bats an eye. You get your work done, you're treated as an adult. We all cover for each other and encourage vacation, because we love the policy and want to keep it.
Why not High Salary + Unlimited PTO + 100% Remote - Job Security? 🥴
100% remote is not a perk, it's a punishment. I won't even consider offers in a company where all people work remotely. A nice office and smart people around is the largest perk.
Unlimited PTO gets a bad rep, but I don't understand why people don't just take it? See what breaks. You get a promo less quickly? I doubt that, if you recharge and work even better than before.
Depends on what you define as mid and high salary, but pretty sure I'm high salary and I've got 100% remote and unlimited PTO at Adobe
High salary + unlimited pto + 100% remote, why is this not an option? XD
I have unlimted PTO in my company and the relief of not needing to track days and cultural empathy are what I best love about it. There are days where you absolutely feel like you're not able to add value or days when something suddenly comes up that you need to attend to. The company wide cultural stance and understanding is that those are okay.
I've seen folks take advantage of this is different ways. I've seen some reach up to 300 hours (7.5 weeks) and others who's more around 100 hours (2.5 weeks). Either way, what's prioritized during reviews is your overall impact.
This being said, if given the choice between remote and unlimited PTO, I would probably take remote.
salary+PTO. I enjoy working in person and the pain of affording childcare is non-existent with more money.
Remote is so much better than unlimited PTO. And I’m not even talking fully remote but just having the option to choose what days you go in vs not. Going in every day sucks and honestly just doesn’t make sense a lot of times. Some days I only have 4-5 hours of work to do and have chores/errands to catch up on at home but no let’s spend an hour commuting to the office and another 3 hours sitting being unproductive at your desk because it’s poor form to arrive at work after 9am just like it’s frowned upon to leave before 4pm.
In addition I can’t even count the number of half days I’ve taken while working fully remote. Who needs unlimited PTO when you can just take half days pretty much on demand without even having to request it off while working remote.
Also in my experience you’re never “fully off” with these unlimited PTO policies. There’s almost always some expectation that you’ll be reachable and have your laptop handy if necessary. This is simply not the case for jobs with X number of PTO days.
Can I haz high salary + unlimited PTO + 100% remote? 😅
Unlimited PTO, but they'll fire your entire team soon...
Lol I have neither low salary + hybrid is bottom of the barrel
