Protip: reduce the buzzwords
No it’s not a lazy question, and I think you are misinterpreting it’s intent. The answer to the question clearly highlights what you find as an important problem and as a resourceful answer. For a snr mgr+ role, it is not about the capability of solving a given problem, but formulating the problem and guiding others to solve it. I consider it as a baseline question to show whether you can formulate the why before relying on data.

When you’re a lower mid market firm, then yes, one person is expected to do a lot. Period. It’s a great gig with competitive base and bonus structure with equity. Small team, not burning the midnight oil all the time etc. When you’re a sub-$20M shop, you don’t have the liberty or budget to hire a team of folks.
