Hiring manager @ my dream tech was saying she’s trying to get funding for hire and anticipate 8 weeks. 4 weeks passed by and I let her know that I recently received another offer and wanted to check in on the progress. I am being ghosted, so does it mean I have no hope? 😭

If she said 8 weeks, that’s likely the workflow time for benchmarking, business case building and getting approval. When there’s no update some will just stay quiet until there is information to communicate. How soon do you need to let the other offer know?

like

I do think if you wait another week you might reach out and explain you do have this other offer, however X is your dream company to work for and you would accept an offer if extended. She’s then more invested in getting back to you. That said, you have then lost any ability to negotiate and she may come back and lowball you. The other option is to let the clock run out and see what happens at the end of the 8 weeks.

Funding an FTE takes time, believe it or not. If it's your dream tech then wait for them to get back. You can accept the other offer and renege if anything.

like

Sorry!

Nobody knows.

How long since you reached out?

5 days.

What is she supposed to say? Let me expedite my pre-established timeline just for you?

You did the right thing OP and they are likely just not ready.

Hey Ladies - my fiancé is trying to move to Boston or New York in the next few months, but his field is pretty niche in finance (long only investing). He works at a mutual fund in Chicago, and has been putting feelers out. We both feel that more postings will open up in January, but if anyone has some insight on recent job openings that might be a good fit, I’d love to know so I can point him that way. A chance to connect him with someone would also be extremely helpful! Long distance is hard.

Married 1.5 years long distance. I took a job to be with him that pays twice what he earns now. I’ve been sharing every detail of my job hunt, interviews to salary negotiations. He has been very supportive but sometimes I feel guilty I’m rubbing it into his face and I have goals about going up the ladder fast, get/ experience the fanciest things and reaching a certain role/salary in life. I fear when I move in things may change, I’ll feel held back, may need to take low pay to feel we’re equal

I’m being promoted to Manager this November but recent got offer from a fintech. In money term the manager base pay is 5k greater than the new role but i’m negotiating to match the offer with my Manager salary. Should I wait until promoted or move asap? I dont want to continue working in external audit so trying to pivot to data analyst role/IA in the fintech before moving to full DA/DS position… but thinking the Manager promotion would help negotiate salary in the future.

Little bit miserable in my current role and wondering if the grass is greener. Looking for a strong resource to join a tiger team focused on managing and supporting large scale pursuits and partnerships in the provider space ($1B+ deals) at Optum. The role isn’t consulting but aligned very closely and hyper focused on closing very robust diligence efforts that are similar to a diagnostic assessment. Preferred big 4 experience that loves PMO and due diligence with a smile. 2nd year BA or 1st year C). DM me if interested.

I have this constant feeling of doing something better then what I am doing now. Bigger role, better pay, more growth, higher impact .... is what my brain is consumed with all the time. It’s not new, I have been feeling like this for as long as I remember ... even when I was in school. Although it has served me well so far career wise, but sometimes I feel that I missing out on my present life... does anyone feel like this too? I am not sure if this normal. I am in mid-40s, in case that matters.

Hey all! Anyone know what the AMEX band/level hierarchy is compared to Deloitte? Conscious it varies based on team and geography but generally speaking is a M/SM at AMEX akin to a C/SC at Deloitte? Experienced SC here applying for the M/SM at AMEX and it's starting to feel like the AMEX role is way more junior than my current one at Deloitte as far as responsibilities, pay, etc. Thanks!

I’ve been working in the HR space and am interested in pursuing an MBA to transition into Human Capital consulting/ Change management/ Talent technology and analytics. Thanks!

What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it. I work 3 feet from my bed, I find the barriers of a phone/email between me and a senior to add a huge amount of stress to my life and I think it’s stunting my career development at my firm because I can’t build relationships as effectively. I’ve never at all had mental health issues before but now am really starting to feel burnt out and anxious most of the time. What do you think?
