Hi! So, I’ve been at the adtech I work for for 5 years. I’ve been able to learn and grow in my role and, honestly, I’m happy. BUT I’ve had calls with 2 different recruiters this past month for different tech companies in different stages, both offered much more than what my current salary is (at least $20k over my base salary, even when I had a 10% raise this year). I’m realizing I’ve been severely lowballed and kind of want to bring it up to my manager. Anyone have any experience like this?

Sorry to hear. I feel you! Yes being lowballed at a company you stay at for a long time is unfortunately extremely common! The best way to get a raise is to come back with a counter offer. I haven’t had that experience but it’s common practice. There are ways to talk about it in a very professional and non emotional way (which is the most effective). But I will let others chime in! I confirm though that a counter offer makes people flip a switch to give that raise without overthinking it. The reason is that it’s easy to justify it to their teams. So continue the interviews and come back with a counter!

I’m an Inclusion Teacher in an elementary school. My role is to support special education students in the general education classroom. With the extra furniture in the room removed, this won’t be possible. I will also have students working remotely from home at the same time. Any suggestions or ideas?

I currently work at a firm that pays above market. 12 YOE, people transformation ( culture, not ERP/tech implementation) background. Current total comp is about $140-150k, plus $20k unvested equity. Is this a reasonable salary expectation for my next role: $165-$180 total comp annually, something like: $150k base, 25% bonus, + $30k equity, $25k cash sign on to replace what I’m walking away from in outstanding equity and expected bonus payout for 2021. Would appreciate thoughts on when to pay of student loans. Have about 40k left @ 4.5% (refinanced twice). I should be able to pay them off in one lump sum in a few months with personal savings. I’m currently paying the minimum, while saving aggressively in HYSA account , contributing to 401k to employer match, and contributing to Roth IRA. Does it make sense to just knock them out or should I increase investments focus? I know there’s likely not a “right” answer but what would you do?
