I’m curious to know how many job requisitions a typical full time recruiter has? My job is a hybrid role and I am currently managing 30 reqs. Recruiting is supposed to take up to 10% of my workload. Am I being given too much responsibility?

I am a junior biglaw lit associate who is extremely extroverted. Unfortunately, I’m realizing that so far litigation hasn’t been as great for extroverts as advertised. Is this just the nature of being a junior attorney in any practice anywhere? Are there specific specialties within litigation that extroverts particularly enjoy? I generally like what I do but working crazy hours in mostly isolation doesn’t seem sustainable long term for my personality type.

I’m considering a lateral offer in lit between a V10 and V50. The V10 has the brand value, but I got the impression that I would just be another cog in the machine there. The V50 is similarly well regarded in my specific practice area as the V10, and I do think if I want to try to make partner I should go to the V50. Does brand value particularly matter? I’m coming from a V50, and only considering government or staying at the firm.

My firm is forcing everyone to go back to the office this month. While I don’t mind being in the office, I’m an Asian woman and terrified of taking the subway given all the recent anti-Asian incidents. Is it reasonable to ask for some sort of transportation reimbursement? An Uber is around $40 which is insane, but I guess there’s a lot of demand since others are in the same boat.

For context, I’m a senior associate at a V50 in NYC.

Explain to me like I’m 5. Why does the monthly billable hours goal on things like Intellistat change month to month. I’m not hitting hours this year. Last month goal was 158. This months goal is 180.

so, how many firm laptops' worth of billable time would you say you waste in a given month dealing with delays caused by your firm laptop?

Does anyone have any insight on Egan Nelson? Currently at a V50, but would appreciate anyone’s thoughts on how a move to a firm like Egan would impact future job prospects (e.g. if I ever wanted to move in-house one day). Also curious if their comp structure is as advertised. Thank you in advance.

Do you bill the same way when billing time for pro bono? If you read a non-substantive brief email would you bill .1? Feel weird doing that even though I do it for clients.

For years I’ve seen people honored as “Best Lawyers in America” or “SuperLawyers” or some other legal industry award, accolade, or acknowledgement. How does this happen? I’ve read that peer nominations and evaluations are needed - does this mean people are basically campaigning among their lawyer friends and peers to get votes? I’m just curious, I’ve never gotten such an award and wonder if there’s something I should be doing (other than being a good lawyer, of course)...

I have an offer to go in-house and I thought this was my dream and I was dying to leave, but now I’m having cold feet. What if I enjoy firm life more and what if I took a pay cut and it all sucks? Anyone else felt this way in the past?

I’m a first-time prospective lateral likely to get an offer shortly. I just received a lateral questionnaire that requests billable hours, rates, fees collected, etc. for the last three years. Forgive my ignorance but is this normal/standard? Do people actually answer these honestly? One of the reasons I’m leaving my firm is there isn’t enough work in my group so of course my hours are low.
