HMU if you’re interested in doing funds work (lifestyle practice for sure) at a v30, my firm is looking for a Junior/midlevel

Being an underperformer is about as good as BigLaw gets, until the music stops. Sometimes, though, the music just keeps playing. That’s my favorite song.

Define lifestyle and what type of funds

Lifestyle = rarely weekend work (if ever) and not grossly exceeding your billable requirement. You would be able to do work across PE, VC, and Real Estate if you wanted but I believe the biggest need is for PE right now

I’m in funds and PE. I find it surprising that anyone would consider it to be ‘lifestyle’ practice 😮

I mean have you worked in M&A 😂 funds is about as good as BigLaw gets from what I can tell

Interested. V10 junior.

I’m interested. I have real estate and antitrust experience. Would the firm be open to my candidacy if I’m willing to drop back a class year or two?

Possibly, shoot me a dm

Is this role still open? I may know someone who might be interested and would love to pass this along to them, but wasn't sure if the role had been filled or not.

Always worth a shot

HELP! I work at a remote company and we are hiring folks across the mainland. I need to find an online notary who can verify IDs for Form I-9. In the past, I had new hires find a local notary but we want to centralize this as there has been a lot of back and forth, confusion, etc. Do you have any suggestions for a company I can go with? Suggestions including links are greatly appreciated!

Ignoring COVID for a second and how it'll impact firm's financial capability to even give bonuses, do firms with billable reqs usually still give bonuses to first years even if they don't make the threshold?

Maybe like 5% of my first year class will make the threshold (and tbh that number would be around the same of COVID never happened. Just curious as to how most NYC big law deal with this.

Are there any “best practices” as it relates to giving notice? Currently practicing in somewhat of a specialist group and lateraling to re-tool to a practice area I’m more interested in and also relocating to LA (where I’m from), so not necessarily competitive but I’ve been in this group for 3 years and have received very positive feedback on my work and built solid relationships/mentorships so curious if y’all have any pointers to avoid inadvertently “burning bridges” as they say…

Thoughts on STB NYC banking & credit group? I’m sure they work a lot but curious as to more specifics on hours/culture/exit ops/general pros & cons. Thanks.

Recently had my year end review. I am a 4th year at mid size firm in NYC my raise last year was $20,000 and my bonus was $10,000. This year my raise was $20,000 and bonus $15,000. I feel like I working extremely hard this year and overall significantly improved (my review had no negative comments), but the additional $5k doesn’t make sense to me. Is this standard or should I say something?

EDNY: Are there any workarounds to the requirement that the attorney submitting your sponsoring affidavit must have known you for one year? How do you know if you’re using a good recruiter? I connected with mine when I replied to a mass email because he’s part of a company that allegedly works closely with the firm/type of firm I want to join. We spoke a couple of times and he seems nice but clearly didn’t even review my resume, which I feel is the most important as the first impression doc..? Is it bad to switch to someone else at his company..?
