Holiday gifts for my remote team? I want to spread a little cheer and love to my virtual team with a small gift. Any suggestions? There’s an awesome local chocolatier near me so i was thinking a nice box of premium chocolate and a note? I’d love to get more ideas. My team is all women and I’d say we have a good rapport, given our remote status

So very thoughtful of you! I think that anything at all, even just the card alone, is a lovely gesture and more than the majority of others would do- that being zero. Just your personal acknowledgment and well-wishes would be enough to brighten my spirits.

Aside from that- you can’t go wrong with chocolate! And it coming from a local shop adds a great little tweak that’s unique and personal to you, which is cool!

Thanks for your replay! This is just the little nudge I needed 🤗

So I’m pregnant but too early on to tell anyone. Plus I want to wait as long as possible to tell work. However I’m EXTREMELY tired and can’t focus. Unfortunately work from home just isn’t really much of an option because the partner in charge of my group just likes us in the office—it’s just a whole “thing”. I don’t want to keep using the excuse of “not feeling well” so I can Wfh and go home when needed for fear that the excuse will eventually get overused and watered down. Advice??

Do any other junior people struggle with setting boundaries with WFH? I’m a high-performer, so people often ask me to do things outside my regular engagements and as a result my personal life takes a back seat and I become progressively more miserable. It’s become an identifiable pattern at this point.

Any practical advice?

Small rant here, but if you give an assignment, have you noticed your male business partners come back and say, "can you set up some time on the calendar with me and x, y, & z to make sure we understand what you're asking for?"
Like, I am not your secretary sir. If you and your buddies need clarification from me then you should set up the meeting. The struggle is still real. I know this may be an overreaction and barely an inconvenience but it shows me how I'm still perceived by that person.

Help. How do I strengthen my relationship with my manager? During our weekly check in the other day, they said I micromanage them too much and I need to stop it. I was asking if I needed to do anything for a client since I was out the week prior and they pushed a few things forward for me. I honestly just wanted to know if I missed anything and I didn’t want to drop the ball. Now looking back I realized they’ve made other comments to me that make me uncomfortable.

What courses would you recommend (or avoid) to improve my overall management skills? I am reading books, articles and my company provides me with a career coach.
