The firm does not need due cause or any legalish-sounding term or factor for them to investigate what goes on with their own equipment and software.
That being said, it is extremely unlikely that any given partner would be able to access the usage history of any given employee.
The firm theoretically could, but similar to the NSA monitoring everyone, there’s little value for them in doing so unless there’s a reason to go looking
If you want to say something that you don’t want your company to see, text or message your colleagues on your personal phones.
Assume that anything you type on your company laptop can be read by someone at your company
How, technically, would you imagine that working?
Who still uses Skype ?
Your IT dept could certainly pull conversations but the likelihood that partners are pulling this on individuals is low.
Say key words that together make it seem like you’re stealing IP then yeah I’m sure that gets flagged and reviewed.
Why when teams exists ?

Maybe they could request it but honestly partners don’t have time for that

The firm, yes. Individual partners no. All your conversations are archived for a set period of days before being scrubbed.
When we first started using Zoom, there was a “god mode” that allowed certain users to drop into Zoom meetings without any indication the person was there. I doubt it was actually used.
Technologically, it’s feasible. Practically, the people with access don’t have the time to monitor anyone unless they’re actively searching for something, and would get in trouble themselves if they abused their access.
The firm has the ability, yes. You consent to it by using the company platform. But it’s not like individual partners can access your comms at will.
All that said, a team member was terminated over his behavior on Skype when I was at Booz a decade ago.
I mean did they solicit people/get reported?

I don’t know about specific apps or firms but this happened to my friend in finance. She was talking about drinking with the team and whatever shenanigans with someone else on one of their messaging apps and got called in to HR
Maybe, and just maybe, the other person receiving the msg reported your friend
If anyone is looking into this at your firm you’re already Effed. Otherwise, the chances of them looking are basically 0.
They have the ability to but no one has time to be monitoring some random convos for no reason
Yo how the FUG is using Skype? *real question, not troll*
