I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

I left Big4 last summer, and honestly dk how I would’ve survived this busy season if I stayed. I was barely motivated by the bonus, so if that’s being taken away, I wouldn’t know how I could keep working like that. Good luck.
Dude the bonus was like 3 digits after withholding (at least at EY). It don’t motivate shit.
Yep, just ran these calculations with a staff in CA. He would be making more (at least from a take home pay perspective) if he got laid off.
Correct, it includes the the federal addition. And obviously the unemployment benefits are temporary nature.
