That explains a lot. A lot of policies and processes and differ by LOS (T&E, staff classes, utilization targets and so on..) And, you are on the management consulting industry feed so you are getting feedback from Advisory staffers. Going to need to ask fellow Assurance folks about this to understand real impact.
@PwC OP "Logged into Sametime" haha policy might be a little dated. Fair enough. But as with any policy, it's only as good as how well it is enforced. Venture to say no one really cares about this one. Akin to expensing lunch, not technically allowed, but it's up to your director. Most I've seen is "expensing breakfast" at 12 pm lol
Of course we "work" remote. Where else would you go if you're on the bench? Enjoy that bench time- it comes so rarely
Against policy to work remotely 😱😱😱
I go in three times a week and arrive at 10 leave at 4
Since when is there policy saying you are unable to work remote on the bench? I haven't been on the bench much, but never told I was expected in the office. What's the difference in working remote when on an actual project?
Bench people must be in the office, even if there is nothing to do. You are expected to network and look for opportunities that might fit your skill set. We have RM that works on that as well.
Is it really in office? Or just in home location? I ALWAYS work remote. The bench is always a great time for International trips in my mind :)
Gonna roll with PwC 5 here OP. Would be a ton of people getting Shit for this and that's just not the case. Someone dictating heavy expectations to you somewhere.
There's no policy. Sounds like OPs group has made their expectations sound like policy
Working remote is treated as bonus ..enjoy 😅😅😅
I have never of that policy...
Not to be crass, but assurance is way different than consulting...and how isn't there an assurance Fishbowl group?
Deloitte is hiring
I definitely doing go in except Fridays if I am on the bench. Most of the time it's a waste of time bc not many folks are there.
They kind of frown on it a little but no rule against it. I think it's pointless unless you have meetings scheduled to be in the office. Just send emails and make phone calls. Make your presence known.
I have a pwc friend who gives me shit weekly for going into the office whether i'm on the bench or not traveling for a project. . . If he isn't traveling, he always works from home. When you say against firm policy, do you mean someone told you or you can find it written in by laws or something?
Really? That's crazy...
I've been on the beech for two weeks in the last 5 years. I took vacations.l and brought my laptop 😊
I've never heard of that policy, seems like that's something that would be really hard to enforce and not very practical either, especially in big cities with over crowded offices
Yeah... I concur. There are no policies that mandate we be in the office when on the bench.
