Anaphylactic response to tarragon (a spice thatās common in French and Cajun food) in southern Louisiana. Am allergic to most things in the daisy/sunflower family, had no idea about tarragon in my bayou dinner.
I had been at the firm and on the project for 1 week exactly. When I realized what was happening, it was very late, I was in yoga pants and super embarrassed. Drove myself to ER.
All I have of the incident is a pic of my temporary Jolie lips. And the project team was so mad that I didnāt call one of them in the middle of the night to take me to the ER... ummm, no. Iād rather die than sacrifice my personal brand!! šš³š
I fainted in front of my CEO first week on the job a few years back.
Shortly after finishing B School I was in an industry job that had me going back and forth from Philly to Tokyo once a month. On one trip in the winter of 2003 (totally dating myself) I got fantastically ill and spent 3 days in my room in and out of consciousness with a high fever, sweating, and also having some serious āfever dreamsā and delusions. I was spending about 80 nights a year at the New Otani Hotel then, and I speak and read Japanese at a high level, so I was being well taken care of, but it was still pretty awful. After about 72 hours I just snapped out of it and I remember talking to my then wife about how I had this horrible dream somewhere in the midst of all my other delusions that I watched the Space Shuttle blow up on CNN. That, of course, actually happened (Columbia in Feb of 2003) and while I didnāt really remember ever getting up to watch it, I apparently went up to the rooftop bar and ate ramen and watched it with a few others... I thought I had imagined it in my three day long fever. Iāve never puked and sweat so much.
Throwing up overnight tue-wed and stomach pains, thought it was food poisoning. Managed to fly back home pale as a ghost Thursday. Friday evening intense side pains - go into ER foetal position, turns out I was passing a kidney stone that whole time! Thank god it didnāt intensify mid flight lol
Oxycodone is good stuff š¬
It stopped Wed eve š I wasnāt prepared for the pain that came afterwards my god lol
Food poisoning on Sunday before checking in hotel. Slept in hotel room until Wed before able to keep solid food down and flew home Thursday

Car accident (cab). Wear your seatbelts, folks!
Day after firm holiday party and I was really hungover, or could have been food poisoning because it seemed more than a hangover and I only had 3 glasses of wine, but Iāll never know.
Either way, around 9am I started throwing up, constantly. My flight out was that day and I just wanted to go home and while driving to the airport I kept having to stop on the side of the highway while cars were flying by to throw up out the door.
Went to wisdom tooth extraction, came out high, was instructed to keep working. No one asked how I was doing
Omg. I got food poisoning once while on travel in LA. I had been going to/from LA for a while and was familiar with my client. I was so sick I couldnāt fly home on Thurs and spent the weekend there. Felt better by Monday! It was the smoked salmon at Drago Centro (DTLA) that did me in. Havenāt been back to that restaurant since.
Just started coming to LA. Def gonna check these out. Only been to Bottega Louie and Sugar Fish so far haha thanks for the reco!
