Hotel overcharged me by $315. How many points should I ask for? It’s a category 6 Marriott hotel (50k pts a night)

This is not point worthy. Literally took a 30 sec call to remedy the situation. It’s not like a toilet exploded and flooded your room

like

I’d be feeling lucky if I manage to get the money back lol

likefunny

It’s borderline embarrassing to ask for points for something like this

like

Literally a non issues, calm down

like

When you order groceries online and are accidentally overcharged do you accept a refund of the overcharged amount or say ok thanks for the refund plus I would like a one year long free membership with free groceries for the inconvenience caused?

likefunny

They told me they would refund me (it was their fault). But they didn’t offer any points for inconvenience...

like

What inconvenience? Of making a phone call? Assuming this was on your corp card, you weren't directly inconvenienced by having that amount unavailable for you to use.

Take their apology, take the refund; save the points demand for when you are truly inconvenienced.

like

Not sure if it’s point worthy or not but you could always try for the points you’d get from spending $315. Again not sure if it’s worthy of points but seems like a logical request in terms of how much

like

I got the same issue when the Sheraton switched over to Marriott billing system. Took me 4-5 calls to get them to send an invoice and refund the charge. I emailed Marriott to complain and the hotel offered a free night or points. I would say the number of points for a free night there is fair.

S1 - they usually through in $10 of the next order. So are you taking OP’s side?

like

No I am pointing out that OP’s argument is bordering on unreasonable

like

Explain the situation please

Was this a personal charge or a corporate charge?

Thanks C1, I didn’t think this was that egregious of a request so good to know there is precedent...

Really rethinking this whole accounting gig. I used to be so passionate about it and wanted become CFO one day, but I’m slowly starting to dread the work and my life. Everything around me has taken a toll. I’ve tried both big 4 and industry and I really don’t like either side, but I don’t know where to pivot to. Part of me wants to drop everything, travel and start my own business but idk if that’s the best thing to do amid recession fears… could really use some advice :/

Thinking of retiring at 50. After I retire, what are some of the small gigs I can do to get some cash flows and enjoy retirement, without going throght the full 50 hour a week grind?

For context, a 44 year old MD. I think by 50 I'd have enough saved to last the lifetime, but don't want to be doing "nothing" while I travel for most part of the year.

Hello all,

I’m a recent graduate of masters and currently have 2 offers in my hand.

1) One with CITI Bank with 100k salary and no sign on bonus and as it is in my home town as I stay with my family needs no relocation bonus required.

2) This is with American Airlines in Dallas Fort Worth which offered 100k + 10k bonus + 18k relocation bonus (required)

Which ofer should I consider given I’m a new graduate and this is going to be my first job. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Rental car question, I booked a car for an upcoming vacation through Budget and at the end it says no fees to cancel, no payment required now. There is also a checkbox to select if I had wanted to pay now. I opted not to. Reading the t&c with my confirmation I see there is a $50 penalty for changing a prepaid reservation, why would anyone pay early for no discount and potential change fees? Am I missing something?
