How about paying better wages and competing instead of complaining especially when you're sitting on a huge cash pile, operate in an Oligopoly, charge BS fees for stuff that shouldn't charged. This takes the cake Mr. Mckay - “We’re paying for the education as taxpayers, and we’re losing the talent.” Competittion FTW.

Lol, I think it's best that they don't get the talent. The talent gets to create actual value in the real world.
What irks me even more is his statement, "we pay.. they leave" on behalf of taxpayers while speaking in the capacity of a CEO implying he or his bank is owed something by the folks who leave.
What is the purpose of that statement.... Does he want to limit mobility? Does he want government to stop funding schools? Who exactly is this statement supposed to "awaken".
I had an interview with RBC HR about a year ago and they didn't even want to pay me my then comp which wasn't much to begin with. Banks don't pay much and they have been seeing an exodus of good technical folks of late because of it. Some I know has gone to consulting with significant pay raises.
I think they are increasing wages for engineering and data scientist. Product managers and general consultants are easy to find.
