When I stopped caring how I’m perceived and learned to lean on my strengths and not to try and be the best at everything.


B1 - could you explain more? What actions did you take once you had several good examples or role models?

Very early in my career. A feedback I had received was I smiled too much and was cheerful all the time (and clients may not take me seriously). But that’s me. And I wasn’t going to change it. That was then.

And now, I still listen to feedback seriously, but only act on what is logical to me, and authentic to my character. I am at a stage in my life and career where I don’t have to listen to anyone if I don’t want to. But again, the authenticity was there all along. If I had not insisted on keeping my authenticity then I would be a fake today. And there are fakes around. Sadly. And many don’t even know it.


1. Pick and choose your battles
2. Find the right leaders and latch on to them. My firm is big enough for every personality to exist and be successful.
3. Sell. You’d be surprised how much less people care about things like “smile more” if you land a couple of big projects.


Mine is constantly evolving slowly and I wouldn't have it any other way

Evaluating offer from Goog for Sr. PM role (L6). Got a range already, ~180 Base + 20K sign on + $400K RSUs (vested over 4 yrs). Total comp ~300K. I am 3rd year Sr at pwc. Pros/cons of exit to tech?


Thinking about switching from big 4 audit to tax. Realistically, what would exit opps be like if I didn’t want to do tax-specific work after leaving?


No promotion. No raise. Need performance improvement plan. And yet, made ~$550k/year last 4 years in a row as an investor. I should retire from consulting but don't know how to say no to free money.
