I joined KGS in feb 2022, we recently got a mail regarding timeline of appraisal and bonus payout from the partner. My reporting manager hasn't yet reached out to me regarding goal setting, not sure if that happens here. Can you pls help me to know what all things we need to do from our end for the appraisal cycle and bonus payout? Since I'm new to this company KPMG KPMG India

Family help, illusion of social media, credit card debt or some combo.
It’s called bank of mommy and daddy
Just because they have it doesn't mean they can afford it.
Rent the runway.
People spend their money differently. Not everything should be assumed to be a silver spoon. I work hard for my money and time to time i like to buy myself something nice. Only once every few months, and I’ve developed a collection like that.... plus eBay is great for used designer things.
@SF1 Agree. I’ve gotten 2 pairs of brand new unworn Manolo Blahniks off The RealReal. One pair was only $85 (normally $595).
after pay?
Everyone else is a trust fund baby, has wealthy parents funding their life style, or they are looming under massive credit card debt and mask the fear of that reality. Or at least that is what I tell myself so I don’t feel like such a failure.
Idk but I make good $ and I still can't afford gucci slippers because mortgage.
At least you own a house...
trust funds and/or parents paying for expenses. in the absence of that, it’s gotta be a house of cards and credit card bills stacking up to unholy levels of debt.
I don’t have that many designer things (really just one fancy coat) but I guess you would say I have a good lifestyle? I don’t go anywhere for my vacations days, just stay home and relax, I’m still on certain family plans (phone, Netflix, dental), I don’t go out drinking (only company or vendor paid happy hours), non exempt so I get a lot of overtime hours.
Also, those people my age are probably using RTR or the like (there are SO many rental services now) or reselling (I do this) like on thredUP or Poshmark. So that 200 jacket was actually really 50 if one sells it for 150. Or I buy something on sale and sell it for full price.
And a lot of my friends have side hustles that make them a good hunk of cash regularly that they can spend towards presenting that said "good lifestyle" or "designer thing".
But really, don't believe everything you see on social media.
Side hustles, parents’ help, rich boyfriend/girlfriends, credit cards, castoffs from older siblings, deferring student loans and debt.
There is probably no single reason.
They have this really cool app called THEIR PARENTS
Wish I knew at 23 what I know now. If it seems like people are living beyond their means... they probably are. It’s likely they’re in a lot of debt or heavily bankrolled by their parents. If you try to keep pace with that life in your early 20s, you’ll end up like multiple people I know who were paying off dumb credit card debt until they were almost 30.
We shouldn’t judge people on want they buy or assume they are only able to afford it because of parents or credit card debt.
Ramit Sethi, personal finance expert, said it best:
"Everywhere you turn, you hear people telling you what you can't do with your money: No lattes, no jeans, no vacations. But By reducing the number of things to focus on — and picking major, important items — you don't need to worry about that one-off latte or the extra $20 you spent on shoes,"
You probably see an associate with designer clothing, but he or she balances that out by living in a cheaper apartment.
Personally, I wear cheap off brand clothing and sometimes buy goodwill clothing so I can spend lavishly on camera gear.
I recommend reading his book called “I will teach you how to be rich” by Ramit Sethi.
That’s truly none of your business, friend
🙄
Mommy and daddy. Sigh.
