Hey everyone,
I am an AVP (Senior Java Developer) at Barclays with 9 YOE.
I appeared for two rounds of interview with JPMC for Java & Cloud for a position at Bangalore.
First round was taken from US and 2nd from Bengaluru (today itself).
Since the interview went fine, so what should I expect next?
Some coding round like on HackerRank? If YES, can you please suggest from where should I start practicing such coding exercise and what kind of problems are given ?JPMorgan Chase
Hello, all.
I was exploring job opportunities with Google Cloud India, and I am confused about the ladder and role to expect at 13 yrs of experience in IT. What is the ideal level to target for? Does it get decided purely on interview performance?
Any insights would help. Thanks in advance!

East Asian here. I was rejected from several Ivies and went to a top public. I’m totally okay with that. We have to look at the bigger picture outside of school admissions. Asians still benefit as being the the “white” people of POC. We are used as model minority and are given certain privileges in society after college that our black and brown peers don’t receive. I’m okay not getting into Harvard because I know life will still be easier for me. I was still able to obtain decent jobs and are over 200k/year even though I didn’t get into the top ivy. Point is, I was still able to successfully get to the top, income wise, without a spot in a top ivy. I’m willing to give that up to allow someone else who would benefit a lot more from Harvard. Considering where different ethnic groups are socioeconomically, Black and brown URM need these platforms more than others to get ahead to make up for systemic racism in our society.
Reminds me of a tech implementation my team did for Nike.

One point that often goes unnoticed:
A large portion of the African American admits to top schools aren’t “Black” (the descendants of American slaves), but rather second generation Africans from countries like Nigeria, whose families are generally wealthier.
It’s hard to imagine that the son of two engineers/doctors, living in a wealthy surburban community, has faced more institutional racism than the son of two Vietnamese boat refugees. But this is the result when schools lazily pay lip service to “diversity.”
Affirmative action should be based on economics, not skin color. Using race as shorthand for the supposed disadvantage and hardships that an applicant has faced is intellectually dishonest, and yes, racist.
Right on. I’ve seen more Blacks actually from Africa than African Americans in my start class. Those from Africa are usually from very wealthy families and the firm gets its “quota” done while the real problems are unaddressed
At the same time. It stills is not ok for colleges and companies to pick a black or white person over Asians because they possess the same credentials. We have to acknowledge our own biases when it comes to decision making like staffing on a project.
Confucianism and not rocking the boat (mostly taught by immigrant parents who bring that over from their home countries).
I think there will be more activism in later generations.

I’m not okay with it in the slightest. I didn’t have a chance at ivies. I work 3x harder than everyone else just to keep up. I’m proud of it and will do it all again tomorrow. But I have kids now and I refuse to let them work hard and not get into where ever they want. I don’t promote I&D efforts, rather I promote beating the system through your thought and conviction to succeed, no matter what color you are.
