Anyone know any smaller / regional firms that are moving their FDD practices to 100% remote? I have no problem traveling for client/target meetings obviously, but hate the idea of being tied to a city and having to ask permission to move. I'm a software engineer, and I've been working remotely for my entire career. I love the flexibility and autonomy that remote work gives me, but there have definitely been times when it's been hard to feel like I'm on an even playing field with my colleagues in the office.

To peeps who work for Elon Musk - what's the WFH situation? My boyfriend is interviewing for a job in Elon's company. He was told the role was on-site only. We're not sure we want to move right now and the comp is not really worth moving but the role itself is appealing to him. Do you think it's worth going through interviews and trying to negotiate working from home?

Right now, work is slow due to statewide restrictions. There isn't much to do but we're still required to come to the office everyday. I waste around 3 hours daily between commuting and getting ready, on top of the surging gas prices. How do I talk my manager into letting us WFH? It's not like coming to the office does any difference.

I actually want to learn Kafka hands on . I have been a data engineer all my life, worked with big data, hive, spark ,Scala,python,AWS( all major analytics services),Azure(all analytics services) however got only a brief chance to work with Kafka / real time streaming projects.

Anyone here can teach me/let me know where/how I can get hands on on Kafka . I am willing to pay as well for learning. Also no udemy courses and all those are very basic.

So I joined IBM five months back and just a week back I got a project.

Since my shift is 11:30 am - 8:30 pm, I started clocking in my hours in Workday from previous Monday for shift allowance and its pending for approval with my people manager.

Guys can you tell me when should we contact our manager by the end of every week or by the end of the month to get the entered time approved on Workday?

Secondly, does the people manager approve it or the project manager?

12th NOV - Got call from HR and he mentioned I may selected.
14th NOV - Got call from HR and he sent some BGV forms.
15th NOV - Attended Cognitive Test
18th NOV - Got call from HR regarding Preferred Location and mentioned he started working on OL.
1st Dec - Got OL and also mailed them for extending my doj.
