Stable with slow growth, <5% which is low given low base. Unlikely that they’ll accept getting acquired by Big 4 unless they end up in financial trouble first - too much pride in being a “strategy firm” and not professional services conglomerate. At least that’s my read based on connections in all three firms (London)
RB grew 13% last year overall
LEK is growing close to 20% a year, even faster in the US. Heard OC&C isn’t doing so hot and Roland Berger is largely in EU now
Pretty much all industry and service line, at least in the US
RB is growing faster than the industry in most markets, and especially in the US. That growth is coming from actual strategy work, too, while much of the growth in larger firms is driven from moves into other services like IT implementation and digital agency work. LEK has carved out a nice niche in PE support, so I wouldn’t worry about long term viability there either. Can’t comment on OC&C as I’ve never encountered them in any context.
RB was in rough shape post takeover attempts/failed expansion in the early ‘10s. Finally back on track with low double digit growth (13% sounds right). Beyond Europe also pretty strong in China. Can’t think of a T2 with an equivalent presence there. Shops like S&, OW, etc have single digit partners in the country while RB has >100 consultants just in Shanghai. At the same time, agree with McK1 that the scale is an issue that needs to be addressed and there isn’t a clear answer.
RB is a solid shop in Asia. Work hours are tough, but I dont think that’s firm-specific.
Is that because of the PE boom?
(LEK growth )
Not sure what the split is in terms of what’s feeding the growth, but I have worked equally on PE and strategy projects.
Also - growth is just above 15% (not 20% :) )
