Can someone please help me navigate concerns about the vaccine? Literally all I hear from Fox News zombies saying big pharma and Bill gates are pushing the vax for personal profits only and Covid is not that deadly. What has worked with those in the inner network circle? What hasn’t? My pregnant wife who is nurse received both doses and I think a couple relatives believe the baby is going to be a cyborg.
Hi moms - I had posted earlier about nanny not active with toddler ( toddler bottles up and melts down a lot in the evening), let baby cry etc. I had the gut feeling that she is not the right fit for us and many moms here agreed. I am now trying to tell her that she isn’t the fit for us but this is my first time. Can you provide suggestions how to let go a nanny ? I plan to provide her severance for 2 weeks but I am not sure how to tell her - short and sweet
“Virtual Happy Hour”
Currently thinking about expanding our family 👶. Anyone found good internet resources to build a “Baby P&L” ? Thanks
Told CRO I wanted to break in a 1st year assoc and analyst on this deal. They have performed so, so bigly. Feel like a proud father. #HappyVP
Do you always log on to Skype? I hardly ever do, only for calls. should I be logging in?
Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!
Where are the office Halloween zoom pics???
The number of apps/utility tools we’re using is ridiculous. I probably spend an hour of my day just reading Basecamp 2, Basecamp 3, Wrike, Microsoft Teams, and slack notifications
I'm a young teacher, and want to know what your tips are for preparing for parent-teacher conferences?
Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️
Combined outstanding student loans for me and spouse $$70k. Do you recommend pay down quickly a la Dave Ramsey, pay minimums and invest the rest, hold out hope for student loan forgiveness or something else? Additional context - own a home in suburbs (2.15% rate, 255k outstanding, and a few 0% loans for couch, computer, Home Depot, 1 child in daycare
Microsoft Teams is driving me crazy. I feel like I’m always at work. Yesterday I was at a family bbq and I was constantly getting pinged. Every time I get a message notification I feel like I’m about to have a panic attack.
Senior, pregnant and worried about busy season because half the seniors in my practice quit in the past two months. Directors have said to seniors “brace yourself”. I am already stressed and high risk and off my ADHD meds and struggling a lot to get work done. Is it worth taking maternity leave early and “screwing over” my teams? I feel guilty. Doctor suggested to take medical leave if I am struggling. Need advice 😢
One week into kindergarten, already scheduling my first PCR for a sick kid. Buckle up, I guess?
My boyfriend and I are planning to get engaged within a year or so. We’ve been together for 7 years now. Both our families are from a religious country. I have accepted that my boyfriend smokes and drinks alcohol but this is a huge red flag for my dad. I’m not sure how things will work out if I want to marry him and my father doesn’t approve because of this. My boyfriend wanted to hide it from my family but I’m not sure if it’s a good idea… He’s planning to meet my father this (cont)
When everyone is getting more than they’re full of Zoom meetings, what are some other ways to keep employees engaged, connected, and feeling like they’re part of something important?
Zoom meetings are a lot like dating after 30: soft light, flattering angles, and relying on personality can get you surprisingly far.
How many calls have you had on Teams/Zoom/Skype/Webex etc? I'm wondering how many hours of my life were spent on "can everyone please go on mute" and "let's take it offline" 😬
My mother is sick with cancer and now in the hospital because of an infection that went septic. Does anyone have dua suggestions? Thank you in advance
Let’s say one of us gets laid off. Does it benefit our search in relation to opportunities through LinkedIn contacts if we don’t update our employment status? Does it hurt? Does it matter?
Anyone signing up for the classroom manhattan GMAT course? Trying to decide what day to have class 🤔
Hey fishes, could you please tell me how many interview rounds are there in PwC SDC for a Manager position? Any insights would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
I have cleared first round of interviews with EY seven days back. No other interviews took place till now. Yesterday they send me to fill up Pre Interview Form along with below form(attached). Would someone please explain what does that mean?
Have taken an unpaid leave to spend time/vacation with family in my home country. It’s caused an issue with my manager which is making me anxious and depressed. How can I compartmentalize my anxiety and be present with family for the next few weeks before going back to the office?
Hello Slalom Canada folks, Anyone willing to chat about Slalom's company culture and its niche/specialty here in Canada?
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Does anyone have any insight working for Appian? (Pay, WLB, benefits etc). I have an interview for a Technology Strategy Analyst position but not sure if I want to leave consulting.
We just started using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System in our programs to measure quality of interactions and lesson plans. I think it's been one of the most meaningful tools for providing feedback to teachers.
6am flight. Lots of work. But I don't want to be a dick and pull out my laptop. That glow. My poor neighbors. Sorry EY, deck will not be thoroughly reviewed.
Waited two months to hear back from EY for a role that said online and from the recruiter they wanted to progress me to the next steps in the hiring process. Even did the hire Vue video and phone screen. Woke up today to find out they are going a different direction. Thanks for dragging me on. That’s cold
Booked a short weekend trip in Chicago awhile back for next weekend and I’m wondering how difficult it is to find stuff to do with covid going on. Anyone have any recommendations?
Co-worker just messaged me on Slack - it's her first year with us - CW: "Hey, how does holiday time work? Christmas is a saturday. Do we get the week off?"
Are there any attorney roles that are collaborative? I’m a transactional associate and there are aspects of my job that I really enjoy, but I can’t stand how solitary it is. (I don’t consider client conference calls collaborative haha) Long-term, I need to be in a role that requires more team work/collaboration/social interaction...but the longer I work as an attorney the more I feel like I’ll need to leave legal practice to get that. I’m wondering if there’s a legal option I haven’t considered
My husband and I just found out that his father has stage 3 cancer and we’re having a hard time coping. We can’t really talk about it cause there’s nothing to say really. (Contd)
Looking for feedback on KPMG? Culture, work-life balance, projects, salaries, progression etc
I have 10+ years of experience Agency side, but looking to move Client side with remote work. I've applied for a number of roles either directly on Client sites or via LinkedIn, but haven't even received anything other than a straight rejection at the first stage. Wondering if anyone has experienced similar and overcome it/any tips. My resume has a number of large Agencies and global clients on it, with (IMO at least) some nice success stories, but wondering if I'm missing something obvious.
My first internship was in the US Senate (Democrat senator), and other than that I have an internship and 1 YOE in consulting. Given how politicized things have become do the risks of keeping it on my resume outweigh the benefits of the somewhat unique experience?
Big law litigators - After losing an every issue raising in an MSJ, how long before you actually consider offering a settlement? Do you wait until the eve of trial? What benefit is there to wait until the eve of trial? Is there a better time of the year to offer settlement? End of fiscal year? Before holiday season? Any insight is appreciated.
