How are people finding new opportunities these days? I’m mostly just watching LinkedIn job board, but wonder if there are better avenues… connecting with recruiters, other sites, etc. Want to explore new options even if that’s a step back in title. My current agency owner doesn’t care about building a team that can do good work 😞

Connect with recruiters both in house and external. Mindy Worel, Christine Corden, and Jennifer Yeko are some external ones that I follow.

Second that. Mindy Worel is awesome and super helpful.

I’m still newer in the business (Mid-Level), but I’ve gotten every job (FL + FT) from reaching out directly to every CD, recruiter and Creative Resource Manager at the places I like and hear have openings. Most of the time, I get no response, but on numerous occasions, I’ve caught the CDs who work on the accounts that are hiring.

One of my FL gigs I get via some intel here. I think job boards are just a formality for the most part. If the job has a higher enough demand, people are connecting any possible way they can.

like

Do you email all of them or LI message? Same message to everyone? And then on average for a company how many people would you reach out to? Seems like a lot. I’m just genuinely curious, I get anxiety reaching out to 1 per company.

I go after the firms and brands I like and connect with the recruiter. I like looking at LinkedIn if there's a position at a brand or firm im into.

I have the same issue. I never hear back on LinkedIn.

Sign up with all of the various job boards and set up daily, weekly, or monthly job alerts based on specific titles that you’re looking for. Additionally, signing up to other job boards and creating a profile will give you exposure to other “smaller” recruiting agencies. Also figure out what are some of the big recruiting firms in your area.

like

I have been narrowing down my searches by city and going to Google jobs. Much less overwhelming than looking at full boards on LinkedIn. Good luck!!

Definitely reach out to recruiters at agencies you’d like to join and ask them what’s open. Most agencies don’t post jobs on LI, unless they’re niche jobs the recruiters need a bigger network for. I would use a HH as a CD - tons of great ones in the NYC/LA areas if you’re looking there!

like

do you connect with the people first? sometimes once they accept, their emails pop up in their info (if they’ve added it). a lot of companies post at least one persons email on their website - whatever the format is for that email will be the format for the whole company! first initial, last name, etc

Recruiters and friends! reach out to your network

At what point do you realize enough is enough. Working long hours is one thing but being treated poorly by partner is another. Partner refused to get additional help but questions why work is not getting done. And then blames you for it. I’m questioning if it’s worth it. Sucks to have to leave public and cut short in growing because you are treated like crap!
