But I just got back from my vacation
If I have 21 RSUs vesting may 21 but another job offer (not from a FAANG but from a Series D SaaS), could I ask new company to “buy out” my RSUs? They want me to start May 1 so I can go on a company trip end of May. What are options people have tried? I don’t want to stay at Amazon until May 23 because will miss the trip with my new company and not have any time off in between jobs (I’m burnout). Amazon

Few questions I had:
1. How many rounds of negotiation can I expect? I had my first call with the hiring manager last week and he wants to wrap things up this coming week.
2. I’m guessing I’m under the 14 grade. Anyone have the range for a HCOL city?
3. What other benefits should I discuss?

People need to remember PTO isn’t just for travel purpose, your body and mind need rest from work and stress. Take your earned and well deserved PTO to take a break once in a while and do nothing but rest and enjoy yourself.

I hear ya, D1. I think the constant check-ins and hyper-connectivity to prove you’re a team player, plus dealing with economic instability has put us in work overdrive. But I do find it surprising that most colleagues I know haven’t taken leave. We still have at least another month, so we’ll see.
My team is doing a rotating day off. We’re each taking a Monday or Friday off over the next few weeks (there are 4 of us) and covering for one another when we’re out. I’d encourage you to take your time off or maybe work out something similar with your project team!

Many cancelled vacation plans (including me) and no one has taken PTO beyond a day or two. But I think they’d be ok as long as work is covered.
My staff can take PTO now just as they would during normal working conditions. You earned it so use it how you see fit.
I plan to take time, though maybe not like I would for a big trip. Nobody’s business why I take PTO, as long as work is covered.
We are currently on a mandatory PTO policy to protect ARVE. 80 hours, accrued or not, so many of us are going negative. This is for staff all the way up to VP.
Don’t worry though, managers and up are still getting their bonus.
