Hey everyone, I have been posting about TikTok vs Cepheid about which job offer to take and I have started my first few days at Cepheid biotech and I love it so far. Flexible start/end times, interesting work, great WLB, job security, and career growth is all there! Thank you to everyone who helped me hear different perspectives about two different companies and career paths. Thanks guys!!
It’s awesome. Collaborative, people-first environment.
@BCW1 I got that vibe from some reviews I read on Glassdoor but I’m always skeptic about those. What’s your fav part of working there?
Newer to BCW and haven’t had the same negative experiences others in the thread have mentioned. It’s been refreshing compared to the other large agency I was at before. Better comp, better work-life balance, great colleagues thus far. Of course it may be team dependent. Referring to healthcare, NY market.
@AS: One thing I’ve noticed is the practices seem a bit siloed. Am curious about collaboration/info sharing across practices and am hoping to find opportunities over time.
They have hired some of the worst people I’ve ever worked with so I’m staying far away from there!
SVP1 - they didn’t hire our HR lead. Someone had their wires crossed on another post.
Run far away lol
I had the same question as BPR Intern 1. So is leadership the biggest issue? I noticed ppl leaving in the industry pubs but figured it was regular agency churn.
How are the clients? Any perks you like?
Coach
lmao the contrast between these two comments 💀
@Strategist1 appreciate you! Plan to move by early Q2.
Avoid at all costs
See my response above. I loved it when I started, we do still have some cool clients (how long they’ll stick around is debatable) but nothing is worth this toxic culture and poor pay.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with the thoughts of the other BCW folks on here. It’s sad because it used to be such an awesome place to work, and much better that Edelman and Weber, but unfortunately it’s changed. Think this is largely due to a series of senior level departures, continued bad leadership from SVPs/MDs who have been at the firm forever and aren’t willing to change their ways, and a loss of some pretty big clients. The pay also used to be extremely competitive, and that’s changed too based on what I’ve heard from former colleagues and some personal offers I’ve received from competitors. Five years ago, I would have encouraged anyone I know to apply here, but now I caution you to tread lightly…
Totally agree with BCW 2 and BCW 3. It’s a combination of 1) a constant cycle of leaders (both good and bad) at the VP/SVP level leaving, which causes increased burnout among the staff members who stay and 2) the MD+ level folks who are lifers and are unlikely to ever change their ways/leadership styles.
Interviewed and really wanted the role — seems they’ve hired more junior folks in director positions. The team seemed really lovely when I met them though
