I only have one kid. How do you guys with multiple kids do it?? I bill between 4 and 8 per day. No real consistency. He is only 2 years old.
I was working from home for a few weeks but now back in the office. My girls are 14 and 9 so it wasn’t too bad except when it was a dance party or showtime while I was on a call. Even though they are older they are still kids and still had school work to do. There was a lot of backyard playing and not a lot of front yard activity. My office area is towards the back of the house so it’s hard to watch them from inside if they play in the front. I did set up at the kitchen table a few times and open the window so they could do front yard things. I tried to let them be kids as much as possible. There was a lot of earbud and earplug usage on my part.
I’m PI so no billing for me but I know I didn’t get as many hours in despite trying to stick to normal start/stop times. I used to be insurance defense so I feel for y’all having to bill during this mess.
Yes, it is nearly impossible to bill at pre-quarantine levels. Well behaved or not, kids are still kids, and they need things during the day. We have three kids, ages 11, 5, and 1, and I could only hit about 6 hours a day most days for the first 7-8 weeks of quarantine.
Luckily the virus is on the decline in our area, so my retired mom has slightly loosened her lockdown and has been able to take the kids for a few days a week in the last week or two. Much improved billables since then.
