My ex-husband told me he's taking our son on a vacation and going to the same places he and I went before we were married. (Note: We're both remarried with one additional child each. It just feels weird.)
Happy constitution day! Why isn't this a national holiday? We shouldn't be working today!
I think I might be a workaholic. Even when I’m on vacation I’m scheduling meetings, working on business school applications, working with non-profits, or advising startups. I really like doing these things and love the feeling of accomplishing something even on break. But my SO is mad... how do I balance life better
Here's a question I wish I never had to ask. Is it better to use the code for bereavement leave or just burn pto I'm going to lose anyway? Does it make a difference from a utilization standpoint?
Just referred to my vacation as "days I will be onsite" to my family... I cringed as soon as the words left my mouth. 🙊
I am (a woman) all about supporting other women in the workplace but sometimes it's bloody annoying. My MD asked me to work on my PTO (which I was fine with), and I said let's get on the call early morning so we can finish early. She refused cause she had to host Xmas party for kids while not on PTO. So now I have to accommodate her, but she's not accommodating others. And I can't say anything cause it's her kids and our firm is supposed to support women with family and all. Aaargh
Looking for insight from anyone that left public to become a controller. I have about 7 years of experience and received an offer to become a controller. It sounds like the hours could be closer to 50 hour weeks on close weeks. Only 15 days of PTO and a 10% salary increase. The company appears to be stable and I would mostly be looking to gain in house experience. I don’t think I want to become a partner (current manager). Partners in my office never take pto and are working constantly
Long story. So I tested positive for covid after coming back from vacation. Some working remote in my apartment this week and I decided that I'm going to smoke a few of my cigars from my humidor while I work. Well, about 5 hours into my day, I realize that I have smoked 6 cigars... oops.
Let’s talk about surrogacy-
Can it get covered under insurance?
Will your firm allow you to take time off after the child is born?
Looking for serious advice only, not judgment on my choice. TIA.
Tfw you handed in all your deliverables before the holiday and log in this morning with nothing to do
Is going back to public worth it? I left after a year and took some time off for family reasons. Now I’m on the job hunt again and don’t know if I should just head straight to industry
How much vacation do you get at your firm? Especially if you’ve been with the company 2-5 years?
cpa review course expires in 6 mo. & I have yet to study for/pass any exams. I’m considering taking time off right after busy season to try to at least pass something, any advice on what I could do?
The first caption of PwC today should read: "To everyone who busted their ass all summer and did not take vacation (like hike the Appalachian trail for 5 months) or use the #teampwc, thank you."
Unlimited PTO isn’t all it’s cracked up to be
Have a vacation to Hong Kong booked for mid-Dec. We’re intrepid travelers, but the news has me wondering if we should be worried about needing to cancel. Any thoughts on safety given the news?
is Barclays working from home or office? do barclays have training for freshers initially like other companies for freshers
Started interviewing client side in JULY and they want me to do one last panel interview. But now it’s so close EOY and getting my 401k match pay out that I’m rethinking it given timing, esp since I would be taking a pay cut to work there. What’s the most you think you can push off a start date to a new job offer?
Joined Accenture and I am honestly shocked at the T&E policy. You pay out of your own pocket and get reimbursed?? Receipts over 25? Deloitte has spoiled me.
LinkedIn told me it's my recruiters birthday today, would it be weird to message them saying happy birthday?
New hire question: Does the local team even matter when my coach is in a different state? I'm planning to move to another city in the same state, how's the request/transfer process work? Is it appropriate to bring this up to my coach after 3-months here? I'm in the Transactions M&A group.
hey ladies - i'm a 24 year old female and pretty regularly get hit on by the 30+ year old men on my project. what's your max age limit for dating someone and how can i gracefully avoid a drink offer?
Is it worth it to get an MBA with a Human Resources Management concentration (ideally T15), or just go the Masters/Grad school route?
Not an exit per se but at T2 strategy firm (EYP/L.E.K./OW/etc.) in major city (BOS/NY/CHI) and need to move for personal reasons (SO’s career) to smaller city (Pitt/DC/Denver/etc.) where firm doesn’t have an office. I am a top performer - multiple early promotes - now at post-MBA level and would never have previously considered leaving my firm. Now wondering what the best play would be. Do post-MBA laterals to MBB happen without MBA? Do I try remote? Is a few years industry good experience?
Do I have to enter in my HSA info on my taxes if I had no withdrawals? Turbo tax is making me upgrade to a paid version just to enter in my HSA... I don’t even have a 1099-SA for 2019 either but not sure why...
Discussion thread for those that have left for industry/plan to leave/want to leave:
- What was the defining moment that shaped the decision to actually leave versus considering leaving
- What was your rank/tenure in your role? What level and how long were you there?
- What activities did you engage in to ramp up your leave? I.e. networking, resume rebuilds, etc.
- What role did you exit to and why?
- What was your comp before you exited and post exit?
- Would you do it all again?
Yo, quick question from a newbie. I'm roughly 7 months into my studies (bachelor) and I have managed to land my first off-cycle internship in idb. However, during the recruitment-period I have scored 1, possible two rly bad grades messing up my GPA a bit. Not an excuse but I've been focused on performing. Is this something that will affect future possibilities for internships/full-time offers later on or does the experience weigh up everything?
Hi! I've found a realtor I would like to work with to apt hunt in NYC. Should I send a simple email requesting their assistance and background on myself or a more detailed email with wish list etc?
I have a bachelors degree in psychology. Is there any benefits to actually getting a certification/masters degree related to HR? I feel that I am already advancing in my career in HR, but I’m not sure if not having a secondary degree will prevent a promotion at some point.
Does anyone here play D&G??? I need some gift ideas for my baby brother who loves the game.
Any thoughts on JPMC strategy team?
How is the bonus calculated? Never got a clear picture of it. Can someone please explain?
