I've only changed PTO once when a go-live got pushed back to the same time as my planned PTO -- and that was a friends trip I bailed on, not a SO trip. Every other time I've asked them to cover the sunk cost of the PTO as a starting point for negotiation and suddenly it's "Oh don't worry about it we'll find some more pliable young analyst/consultant to provide on-site coverage"

like

^ right. This is why idgaf about loyalty and all that. Have a plan, get yours and get going. These ppl don't give a single f**k about you.

like

@D1 if I used that excuse I'd be in trouble 😅

like

I have been asked for almost all of my vacations to change them. I've said no to every request.

I think this was the vacation of a life time that was about 40k that you saved years for.... if they want you to cancel you need full reimbursement plus rebooking from them on everything

like

Have cancelled my planned vacations few times for urgent and unavoidable client commitments 😪

I have a highly visible quick turnaround project that we likely will win this week...I already know my trip to Mexico is going to get fucked

like

F kinda bs question is this.

like

@DD1 on top of sunk cost I also mention the nights and weekends I spend with my wife painstakingly planning the trip and add an hourly cost to that too. My personal time lost is not free.

like

@m1 same issue here, sneaking in a quick week but probably going back sooner than I wanted.

I am (a woman) all about supporting other women in the workplace but sometimes it's bloody annoying. My MD asked me to work on my PTO (which I was fine with), and I said let's get on the call early morning so we can finish early. She refused cause she had to host Xmas party for kids while not on PTO. So now I have to accommodate her, but she's not accommodating others. And I can't say anything cause it's her kids and our firm is supposed to support women with family and all. Aaargh

Looking for insight from anyone that left public to become a controller. I have about 7 years of experience and received an offer to become a controller. It sounds like the hours could be closer to 50 hour weeks on close weeks. Only 15 days of PTO and a 10% salary increase. The company appears to be stable and I would mostly be looking to gain in house experience. I don’t think I want to become a partner (current manager). Partners in my office never take pto and are working constantly

Long story. So I tested positive for covid after coming back from vacation. Some working remote in my apartment this week and I decided that I'm going to smoke a few of my cigars from my humidor while I work. Well, about 5 hours into my day, I realize that I have smoked 6 cigars... oops.

Do post-MBA laterals to MBB happen without MBA? Do I try remote? Is a few years industry good experience?

Yo, quick question from a newbie. I'm roughly 7 months into my studies (bachelor) and I have managed to land my first off-cycle internship in idb. However, during the recruitment-period I have scored 1, possible two rly bad grades messing up my GPA a bit. Not an excuse but I've been focused on performing. Is this something that will affect future possibilities for internships/full-time offers later on or does the experience weigh up everything?
