Layoffs at KPMG are over. And were one day
Depends who you ask.
If you ask leadership: Accelerated forced attrition occurred with no true layoffs.
If you ask staff: it felt like layoffs coming from the noise on FB.
From my limited experience, though, I only know a single person who has left the firm in the past two months not including those who went to grad school. I’m in our strategy practice which is one of the hardest hit by the macroeconomic environment also so unsure if my experience is truly indicative of the rest of the firm.
When did the Partner layoffs at PwC happen? Are they still going on?
PwC hasn’t laid off any staff or partners (no idea how one lays off a partner...). Some partners did choose early retirement.
OP, the partner early retirements were all voluntary. They could accept or not, no repercussions. Most accepted, some did not. It was an attractive offer, and for that reason went only to partners with a track record of high performance. So no, you can't "layoff" a partner (they're owners in the business), and no, these were not performance related, and no, they were not forced retirements. The truth unfortunately is much less interesting than the rumor mill.
As for staff that were counseled out on performance or PIPs - the numbers are monitored very, very closely (as they are every year). This year's numbers were in line with prior years and in some practices they were actually well below. For people who want to assert that they have better facts, I would only offer that it is impossible without practice-level and firm-level data to judge the numbers.
Who was laid off? Like what level and sector?
I don’t work for any of the firms mentioned. Just curious
