Not your problem after the 2nd week
This never ever happened 6-7 years ago but yes it does happen occasionally now. I’m sympathetic to the thoughts that you’re in control of your career, don’t owe your firm anything and can leave anytime. On the other hand, assuming that you’re on a team, you are directly screwing over actual people and not just your company. Many of which were likely your friends and helped to mentor and train you. Your work is going on their shoulders. I couldn’t in good conscious do this to good people and can’t fathom how other people can. Why are you “planning” to leave in January? Any chance you can move it up or back or give a longer notice period?
I saw this post on twitter. This person left because the team lead wasn't doing their job but accused them instead. The manager had also been unfair to the person with jobs allocation. This was at Deloitte. There was so much job to do.
Doesn’t matter because you won’t work there anymore
Everyone will move on and forget about you by the next day

Isn’t it weird how we ask this question, but employers do this regularly. We are conditioned to think that we owe the employer loyalty if the job is no longer in line with your career goals or if a better opportunity came up.
A friend of mine just walked out at lunch during busy season and never came back.
Was that Tyler? That guy put us in a tight spot.
Employers fire you at will so leave whenever you want 💪🏾
I gave my notice between Christmas and New Years and left the second week of Jan. Definitely didn’t plan on it happening that way, but the opportunity that finally got me to leave fell in my lap in December… and I had to do what was best for me. Those conversations were extremely tough, but I’m the one who has to live my life. I couldn’t stay just because the timing wasn’t ideal for my employer…

It sucks for the firm, but I think the past couple of years show that employees will leave whenever they want so I think they are prepared. People leave during busy season and it’s not that uncommon from when I first started. Employees have so much leverage nowadays it’s ridiculous in comparison to about 8 years ago. Still an employee so I’m enjoying it for the most part.

Lol true
Not yo problem
Depends you okay with burning those bridges forever?
Well i can’t gif, he’s supposed to burn the damn bridge 😫
Sounds like a “new you”’s problem
Our partners always remember who left before January hahaha but at the same time you do you
I did it. Firm (Big4) still asks for me to come back.
They always do.
You guys are inspiring. Love the support ❤️
Wait so follow up question - what if I leave and jump to another big 4 in the same service line? Does that make it worse?
It's not even possible to be poached like that during busy season with similar firm. It's until after end of season.
It’s great for you and who cares how it is for them?
