This popped up on my newsfeed posted by someone in my network. Deloitte basically tied with McKinsey apparently but ultimately came out slightly ahead. Thoughts? I always found it 10x harder to find a new job when I didn't already have one. YMMV.
If you do leave without a new job, consider opening your own firm while you search. That way, it at least looks like you had a plan.
It's a negative signal because it appears like you got let go not you decided to leave. The lateral market is a classic market for lemons so you need to be careful about what signals you're sending. Doesn't mean you can't, but tread carefully.
It depends on how long you can afford to be out of work. You can’t predict how long it will take to find a new gig, and you don’t want to find yourself in a tough place financially.
Consider doing contract work so there are no gaps on your resume.
I would recommend not leaving your current position before finding a new one. It raises too many red flags and questions on your resume. Also, who knows how long you will be in-between jobs (contract work/“solo practice” is not a prize to be had on your resume). Unless your work situation is putting you in a compromising situation criminally/ethically or creating some sort of danger of physical harm to you, then I would leave after you find a new home.
