How bad would I damage my network /rapport if my current company sponsors an expensive certification for me but then I accept an offer at another firm the following month?

The amount of money they’ll save by not paying towards your insurance for a month will cover that lol

When you have your own business and pay for your employees tuition and they leave , you and the others here would feel very different . This is the behavior and thinking of entitled employees working for entitled managers in a system where you own nothing.

funny

This is the other side of working weekends for no extra pay because your director can’t manage a knees up in a brewery. Companies give and take. Employees take and give. If one side doesn’t want to give something the other takes, they can either refuse to give it or give it with conditions. It’s absolutely nothing to do with a sense of entitlement. It’s more about the increasingly transactional nature of careers and the erosion of loyalty. If you won’t give me training/ certification, I’ll find someone else who will. If I won’t work weekends, evenings, and holidays, you’ll find someone else who will. There’s no real loyalty to people, it’s more transactional.

like

Because of my company’s discount and because they’re certified to teach it, cost is $400. External it can go upwards of $2500 for training and exam.

400$ is not a lot, I’ve spent thousands of soon to be old firms money on certifications and training. They made that up in my billables anyway. No one will feel bad if you leave because they need you to get certified so that they can keep renewing their firm certification.

It’s business. Happens all the time. As long as your firm doesn’t have any stipulations where you need to stay x amount of time after they pay otherwise you have to pay back, don’t worry about it.

Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it a lot!!

My company sent me to a course for a few grand. I put my notice in the next week. Didn't even blink.

Hi Everyone,
Any suggestions on networking in the private finance sector?
I recently transitioned from public to private sector finance to be more well-rounded and I’m having a hard time connecting with people in the space. I work for a fund admin in the digital asset space for HF & PE/VC firms and I noticed how much “bro culture” seems to impact the industry. Networking is hard enough working from home but I know how important it is to make those connections.

I am going to school for a degree in International Business and Logistics. I currently have an internship based around Procurement. I’m 2 weeks into an account strategy associate job at Google. I’m realizing I don’t want to be in this job long term but everything but the role is great. Hey everyone, looking for some advice. I’ve been working as a RC for a tech company for 15 months making 45k (I know I’m underpaid) and I’m looking to pivot. I feel really burnt out in this role and would love to transition to something else, perhaps another department. I don’t really want to be in an entry level role again, so what kinds of jobs should I be looking at where I can transfer over my skills easily? I also have customer service experience but would love to stay away from that. TIA!

I’m looking for advice. I’m with a company that will be going through an exit soon-ish. It’ll be big. I have a fair amount of equity and I’m fully vested. But I’m so burned out from the pace and the stress of getting us across this finish line. Has anyone left a job before getting through the transaction? I know there could be a bonus at the time of the transaction or benefits of staying after the transaction, but I am not doing my best work and I want to be motivated and inspired again. Cont’d:
