How can I break my brother into Healthcare Consulting? He is a Senior @ Notre Dame, studied Biology, and has no formal business studies. Any tips? Boutiques maybe?

Take a hammer. Hit his head and read abracadabra healthcare wadiabra. Boom. You'll break him into a million health care consulting pieces! 😂

I went to ND and my first recommendation for your brother is to leverage the alumni network. Have him pick companies he’s interested in and find people on LinkedIn that went to ND that work for those companies and have him connect with them and message them. I have worked for 3 major companies, including EY now without any financial experience and was hired because of who I knew. Feel free to DM if you want me to chat him through this.

Will DM. Thanks

Does he have any internship experience he can tweak to sound consulting-y?

Maybe he can apply to research arms of consulting firms and go from there?

Get a Salesforce admin cert. It takes 6 weeks of part time studying and $200. Salesforce partners will fall over themselves trying to hire a ND grad with a cert at entry level

get him to do an analytics certification. Companies hire the analytics folks like crazy

Huron is a consulting company focused in Healthcare and Higher ed, and their HQ is in Chicago. I went through interviews with them recently and found it to be a good group. Also they are hiring like crazy.

Pretty sure they have arms for cloud epr counsulting(Oracle, SAP, workday) and programs like salesforce as well as healthcare strategy.

There’s no reason why a bio major can’t do strategy/management consulting, life sciences/healthcare or not; there’s plenty of engineers, biologists, chemists, etc. across all levels (A-SM+) who work at Deloitte - don’t know why people are suggesting additional certs, gaining different experiences, etc. In terms of tips: - if your brother really only wants to do LSHC work, target firms like ZS, IQVIA, Huron, Mercer, and boutiques like Putnam, Triage, Clearlake, etc. There’s a list out there of boutique LSHC firms. - Networking is the name of the game. After you network and get a referral, you’re likely to get an interview if you meet base requirements (GPA and the like), major won’t matter. In order to effectively network, find alumni from Notre Dame and since most everyone lists their major on LinkedIn, connect with relevant folks — but at the same time cast your net wide too! - Frame experiences on your brothers resume to highlight core analyst consulting skills (project management, data analysis, (market) research, all the stuff you do/have done) and the soft skills firms are looking for (leadership, impact, etc.) - my two cents: apply broadly to Big 4 and T2 as well (I found that some firms like LEK were really snooty about my bio background and seemed to want formal business experience but other firms like EY and Deloitte S&O (outdated name I know, but that’s what it was called at the time) did not care at all.

My firm does a lot of healthcare work and are hiring. Feel free to DM!

Has anyone gone from making 120k per year to 160/180k ? How did it feel and was it a huge life improvement and did u finally feel like everything your invested in your work life paid off? I’m at 120k rn and for the number of hours I’ve put in and the complete lack of savings I have living in a hcol city I’m hoping that my next salary will ameliorate my money worries . I don’t think after all I’ve done (school/work) I should feel underpaid and broke but I do

Hi all! I’m in healthcare PR and looking for my next step. Can anyone share thoughts on W2O culture? Would love any perspective on which PR agencies are doing well in healthcare these days.

Can someone tell me if just putting all my money (outside 401k/HSA) into FXIAX (Fidelity 500 fund) is a viable strategy? I realized I was basically all in on fidelity blue chip growth (auto investing), but not sure if all in on S&P 500 was viable or flawed?

Other than higher pay (I didn’t become a lawyer to get rich 🤣) what is the benefit of working for BigLaw, or private practice in general? As a government lawyer, I make 6 figures, have excellent benefits, no billable hours requirements, more time off than I know what to do with (including mental health days), a pension, a 401(K), option to chose whether to WFH or not, no weekend work, no working before 8am or after 5pm. It seems like so many lawyers in private practice are unhappy.

Has anyone invested in the Grayscale funds with your 401k? If so was it through a self directed brokerage account?

Realistically, how would Blockchain work with more common activities outside of buying and selling - such as data generation and collection? Does that mean one specific chain (like for a healthcare provider), issuing a certain number of tokens to each patient, and assigning a token to a specific activity and tracking its activation like a binary decision?

Anyone concerned with the dip in the market now? Both brokerage and 401k has taken hit. What are different things you folks are doing??

We spent NYE at my wife's sister's place who has a 5 and 8 year old. We have a 9 and 7 year old. All the kids like to play video games and have tablets. We are strict with screen time and control what kind of games they play. My nephew's have no time limit and play fortnite all day with voice chat. The entire time the 8 year old has had his headset on while talking about killing this guy and that guy. Now my kids basically hate me because I don't let them play fortnite. Am I in the wrong here?

I have been in advertising roles in media and account for the past 1.5 years but I really want to make a career move to PR because that is what I studied and where my passion lies. I know the market is really tough especially here in NYC. Do you recommend I apply for Account Coordinator Roles or the next level up? I don't have formal PR agency experience but I have experience from my education and in house internships, and general agency experience from my current and past roles Thanks!

How do y'all convince randos (contractors, realtors) to mask up and remove shoes when entering your apartment? Not too keen on the risk of outside anything inside a place I keep borderline pristine. Random contractor (unannounced visit) threw his hands up and rolled his eyes at me when I asked very politely. And, before anyone says I'm being sensitive (and can clean after, etc.), I'm immunocompromised, and my parents are high risk.

I built a standard Airbnb revenue model in excel for a property and it showed a decent monthly income based only on 30% occupancy rate for a place that has an average of 42%. I can take on about half of that as risk in case I don’t make it based on my income. I’m still nervous. Given this very little information… would you invest?
