The Power of Personality Workshop

How can I embrace my sensitivity? I feel like I notice things in the workplace that can be considered red flags but others might not think the same so am always worried that I'm just overreacting

Thank you this question and I’m very much the same so this is a good one for me to answer! I consider myself (and have been told) highly attuned to people, emotions and surroundings. Sounds like you’re similar. The beautiful thing about your sensitivity is that you can see, feel and hear things other may not pick up on. You’ll be more likely to sense when a colleague is discouraged, or a client is frustrated, for example. Your teammates may not be as self-aware as you are. The dual side to this (you know there is one) is that you can over-react and read into things that might not be exactly as you perceive them to be. This can cause stress or drama when there shouldn’t be. I’ve been able to turn this sensitivity into a virtue. For example, I’m in charge of new business at Motto and my job often consists of evaluating new clients for good fits. Through pattern recognition, I’ve began to see when potential clients exhibit behavior that signals they won’t be a great client. This has come from being tuned into that frequency and honing my skills. My suggestion is see where that sensitivity really sets you apart and find ways to utilize it in work without overreacting about everything. Sometimes just sitting back from a situation and giving time for your “antennas” to be less reactive can often be valuable. Does that help? Can I offer any other guidance? If so, just fire it in here. :)
